Father Biddy returns and discusses the freedom we can appreciate because of God. He is your praise. God is greater than all, high and lofty. God's attention is directed to those lowly and left out. By living God’s desires and hopes for us, we are free. The sun shines on all with no room for partiality. Let us rejoice.

Especially during election years, we see the manipulation tactics of advertising on display. Marketers call you to action by appealing to your self-interest. To the contrast, Jesus calls us to take up our crosses. But choosing Jesus, you can become whole. Jesus is love, and love is more powerful than any worldly interest. Surrender to Jesus and discover holistic healing and an abundant life.

Our faith is only as strong as our belief. And our belief is as strong as our actions. To become closer in relationship with God, focus on relentless faith. God is sovereign AND love. Walk in faith so God’s will can be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give of yourself to bring peace to this earth. The Feast of Pentecost invites us to embrace our beliefs with great conviction and welcome the spiritual phenomenon of the Holy Spirit in our hearts. We celebrated Senior Sunday with our graduating seniors. One of our amazing high school seniors, Kennedy, preached the sermon. She shared her experiences and finding comfort in Jesus. Congratulations to all graduates.  Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  

Death is scary for us all. Jesus spoke as the comforter and encourager. "I am the way, the truth and the life." Jesus says to follow him and not fear. Perfect love casts out fear. and Jesus loves us perfectly. Jesus continues to encourage through compassion and love. 

This week we ask ourselves, "what story are we living into?" What God does among us and through us is the story of God redeeming the world. We don't have to defeat the empire. We must tell the story of love, life and hope.      Open the eyes of our heart, Lord. Let us have faith and taste the honey.

The story of the transfiguration helps us make sense of things in our world. When life is out of our control, hope can become fear and confusion, but we trust Jesus is near. We are to get up with courage and perseverance, not because we are safe but because Jesus is with us through it all.

We love our enemies. If we share the radical love of God, we find a purposeful life. By proclaiming and embodying the kingdom of God, we change hearts.

Jesus is the light of the world. Our light will illumine others, so God is known, worshipped and obeyed. The light of Christ is the divine energy and power of God through Jesus. Be the light in the dark. The light guides toward truth and love. It shifts our heart posture to see others in a new way. Commitment, courage and compassion fuel our light.

Have you ever tried to keep a tune while others are singing a different song? It is hard. By renewing our baptismal covenant, we renew and recommit to the song we know of God’s love. We must renew and recommit regularly, so that the screaming around us won’t throw us catastrophically off key from our song. We know being loud doesn’t make one right.
