"Whose sins you forgive are forgiven, whose sins you retain are retained." Jesus gives authority through him to be forgiven through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. On Good Friday, all consecrated hosts are buried in the ground, just as Jesus was buried in the grave. The foundation of a building must be deep enough so it doesn't crack, and our faith foundation must be deep enough that even death itself cannot reach us! In Jesus' time, leaders entered towns on big horses and marching bands to display their power. Jesus entered Jerusalem on a humble donkey with no armor or exceptional fanfare.
