Today we roam the crazy streets of New York in Scorsese's "After Hours". We love the film's gradual descent into chaos, filmed through Marty's assured camera, and we are impressed by Griffin Dunne's wonderful performance.

We discuss Fassbinder's "The Marriage of Maria Braun", his unique look at post-war Germany. Although we appreciate the filmmaker's perspective, we didn't entirely connect with the film's detached narrative and cynical outlook.

Although the visuals and music are beautiful and captivating, in our eyes it fails to develop Bella's character in a more complex and interesting way - despite Emma Stone giving a fantastic performance.
