We discuss Fassbinder's "The Marriage of Maria Braun", his unique look at post-war Germany. Although we appreciate the filmmaker's perspective, we didn't entirely connect with the film's detached narrative and cynical outlook.

Although the visuals and music are beautiful and captivating, in our eyes it fails to develop Bella's character in a more complex and interesting way - despite Emma Stone giving a fantastic performance.

We discuss the captivating "Anatomy of a Fall", the newest from Justine Triet. We are particularly impressed by the purposefully playful filmmaking and narrative beats, as well as the moments of greater emotionality.
