A passage that is very familiar during the Christmas season, but one that we must be reminded of. The first people to hear the news that Jesus was born was an unlikely group of shepherds. Listen to this message on Luke 2:8-21.

The Apostle Paul writes a lot about sanctification in the book of Philippians. How does a Christian live once they are saved? He answers that with living a life worthy of the Gospel (1:27). In 3:12-21 we see how does a Christian endure to the very end. We not only want to start this Christian race well, but we want to run it well, and finish well. 

The Apostle Paul is stressing the importance of humble living. The only way we can is by having the same mind as Christ who is the humble servant. In this passage Paul gives two examples whom the church Philippi would recognize, Timothy and Epaphroditus. 

The Apostle Paul directs the church in Philippi to live a certain way. One that is worthy of the gospel (1:27). This life is reflected in the unity of the church (1:28-30; 2:2-4). To live out unity requires us to live humbly. The model we look to follow is that of Jesus who lived perfectly humble. We are to have a Christ-centered mindset. 

The Apostle Paul answers the question of how does a Christian live in culture in Philippians 1:27-30. The answer is that we first need to understand that the Christian is a citizen of heaven. 

The Apostle Paul was looking at his life as either fruitful labor, to live is Christ. Or, to be with Christ in heaven which is gain. His life was one of being a joyful sacrifice. Can our lives be like such?

The Apostle Paul answers the why to his being in a Roman prison for the sake of the Gospel. We tend to want to know why certain things are happening to us and in the world. We may never know the why but we do know  the WHO!
