Ales for ALS has been an amazing partner for breweries all around San Diego. With their yearly collaboration beers dropping during May (ALS Awareness Month), Weir Beer hadn't opened their doors in May of '24 but it didn't stop them from taking that hop blend and making their own ALS beer as soon as they could! Oh Gawd, it's a pepper beer...or is it? Hayden from Wier Beer has a brewing history with pepper beers, but he also noticed during his time, most people would mix a small amount of the pepper beer with a clean lager. All the mixing has been removed with Double Dog Dare Ya Jalapeno Lager, all that amazing pepper taste with zero heat and a clean finish, a easy beer to sit down and have a few of!

Today we kick off February putting the spotlight on San Diego breweries that are doing in right and we start with the energetic couple behind North County SD's Weir Beer. First pour their "tip of the cap" to the American Institution that is High Life with their own version called Rocko's Modern High Life.

Ending the week with Andy from Horse Soldier, strong! I'm talking ABV, out biggest sip yet at over 110 Proof Barrel Strength Bourbon Whiskey, we pop the top and pour one out to kick off the weekend.

Andy from Horse Soldier knows the way to my heart. The Old Fashioned has eternally been the cocktail of choice. Elegantly simple with a perfect mixture of components that help highlight the flavors in the bourbon. Tonight we adhere to the simple recipe of: sugar, bitters, Horse Soldier Straight bourbon whiskey, ice and orange garnish and enjoy all the flavors of this expression.

Andy from Horse Soldier is back with his favorite expression! Horse Solder Small Batch is a different spirit from the Straight Bourbon being a Wheated bourbon instead of Rye giving it a little more mouthfeel and the slightest perception of sweetness.

Horse Soldier Bourbon has a cool bottle and an even cooler story that goes with the making of them! Andy digs into the meaningful creation of the glassware along with side a easy to make cocktail created from Horse Soldier Straight Bourbon Whiskey: 2oz Horse Solder Bourbon, 1/2oz Fresh Lemon Juice, 1/2oz Fresh Lime Juice, 1oz simple syrup, Basil Leaves in shaker.

Andy the Beer man is back with one of his passions, Bourbon Whiskey. This week Andy shares a distiller with a real American story to tell. Pull up a barstool and fill up a glass as we lean about Horse Soldier and all the flavors in their Straight Bourbon Whiskey.

With Pure Projects 9th Anniversary tomorrow, Jensen decided to go big on our last beer of the week. Harvest of Riches is another Crops & Hops beer to celebrate their anniversary, big bold flavor with vanilla and raspberries. Drinking this beer is like sipping on a smooth 12% chocolate covered raspberry desert!

This could be on of the more legendary Saisons we've ever had on the show. Pure Project brewed in colab with Roses By The Stairs. This beer saw it's first life last year as Riders of the Purple Sage. The brewers withheld a small amount of the beer before it got sage and put it in a barrel that had grape pressings from Oddish Wine. Shocking that this is a 10% Triple Murky Hazy IPA, Perhops Perhops Perhops gives you all the mouthfeel with sticky guava flavor and still manages to finish with some light citrus notes. Be careful though, it drinks like a much lighter ABV beer!

Today we get a preview of things to come! A sneak peek of what will be released this Thursday, Hop Dust Murky IPA! A colab with Yakama Chief Hops and using some really cool hop products make this a dazzling Murky IPA that is a must try!

It's extremely cool that we get to celebrate two 1% for the planet breweries back to back! This week we raise a glass to Pure Project and their 9th Anniversary celebration taking place this weekend. One of the longest running employees and DOBO, Jensen drops by to talk about what we can expect this weekend and showcase their amazing pilsner called Rain.

T'was the eve before the Burgeon Beer 8th Anniversary Invitational and we're celebrating the people that make Burgeon who they are, Melody might as well be the face of Treevana IPA...at this point she's has everything but the tattoo (and if she does, we haven't seen it, yet). Today we drink this perfect specimen of an IPA and let Melody tell us why she loves it so much.

Tough to tell is we get more lost in everything that Burgeon does to help the planet or this Double Dry Hopped version of their Juice Press Hazy IPA. Either way you're going to get a ear full of how Burgeon protects this big blue ball we live on and make a beer that has so much hop flavor it should be listed as a drug.

This week we're celebrating 8 years of Burgeon Beer as they countdown the days to their sold out invitational party this weekend! To start things off Mackenzie, Melody and Tori from Burgeon bought a perfect sunshine beer, Sunny Showcase XPA. Showcasing Zumo hops on a light bodied beer make this fantastic beer to tase the floralness of hops with none of the bitterness.

Time to wrap up this anti-Dry January week of brews and food with San Diego Brewing Company. The crew picked their San Diego Hazy IPA to end on and for good reason! This is a beer that will be different every time you drop in to try it. Either way this is another must try IPA from San Diego Brewing Company. Brewer Chris utilizes his own CTZ blend of Citra, Talus and Zappa hops to craft a tropical yet very dank drinkable IPA. Also not to be out done by the beer, Tyson packs the holy trinity of pork...

There really is nothing better then pork belly and IPAs and today Tyson from San Diego Brewing Company as brought BOTH! While the pork belly bites are always on the menu the beer won't be, Triumphant Union IPA is a collaboration beer using two new hops that give this limited edition beer a must not miss flavor profile.

Ani-Dry January continues with San Diego Brewing Company and more beer and food! Today's pairing is absolute flavor gold! It all starts with the perfectly crafted San Diego Gold Blonde Ale that offers a next level setup for the Bistro Sandwich.

No Dry January here! Kicking off 2025 with the newly revamped San Diego Brewing Company. A San Diego institution since 1993, it's in the capable hands of Tyson Blake and Chris Holtz.
