God is described in the Bible as implementing truth at the same time as mercy over and over again. Jesus accepted the cup God had given Him of such great suffering for the greater good of saving us from our sins. Sometimes God gives us a cup of suffering that we must drink in order to experience His blessings for us, whether we get them here on earth or not until Heaven.
