Revelation Church Manchester

The Great Comission in Matthew 28:16-20 is when Jesus calls His disciples to go and baptise people. We are all called and have the responsibility as the church to be making disciples in Manchester.

Ephesians 5:25-32 tells us that we are the bride of Christ, and that our bridegroom is forever patient and faithful to us, no matter how messy we are. Jesus loves us individually but also as the church and He is working in us and for us to be able to present the Church in all it's splendour. 

In 1 Peter 2:9-10 it is written that the church is a united people as one chosen race, by which we are all equal to each other and co-heirs with Chrsit. We are all given the title of priest and have equal parts in God's plans of spreading the gospel.

In 1 Peter 2:4-8 Peter describes Jesus as the cornerstone and us as living stones being built into a spiritual house. Where sin once created a rift between us and God, Jesus has stepped in as the living temple, the high priest and the sacrifice, reconciling us with God. Now, as His people, we can be joined together to become a spiritual house where God fully dwells. 

In Mark 3: 31- 34 Jesus is teaching when He's told His mother and brothers are looking for Him. Yet He tells us that everyone who knows His Father is His mother, brother or sister. We long for family and close relationships and the Bible constantly teaches us of it's beauty. Hebrews 12:18- 29 shows us the power of God who makes all things better than we could imagine. The stabilty of the world around us is constantly shaking and shifting but as Chrsitians we stand on a Kingdom that cannot be shaken because of Jesus. This changes how we live our lives as the blood of Jesus gives us an unrivaled steadiness and optimism with unbreakable hope and joy.

In Luke 24: 1-12 we see the women who knew Jesus return to His tomb expecting to find His body, yet He is not there for He has risen! The impact of this act has changed the world forevermore! As believers this news should impact how we live our everday every single day.

Luke 19:28-40 As Jesus enters Jerusalem the week before his death, the people celebrate that the King has come. 

In Mark 5: 21-34 Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue, comes to Jesus in faith that He can heal his sick daughter. However, on the way Jairus expereinces 4 barriers to faith, which we also struggle with ourselves today. Yet, we are encouraged to stand firm against these and keep our faith in Jesus as He is the one who can change our situations.

In John 13: 34-35 Jesus commands us to love one another as He has loved us. The Old Testament has 613 laws, but the New Testament teaches that loving your neighbour as yourself is the most important of them all. We can love best by following the example of God and all that He says love is.

In Ezekiel 37:1-10 we see God restore a great army - we look at the fight the Church is in today and how we stand together to fight. 

In Acts 2:41-47; 4:32-37 we see the beginning of the church and how it is instantly set apart from the rest of the world through their radical community based in being welcoming, together and caring for all. 

In Matthew 16:13-19 Jesus speaks the church into creation- the same voice that spoke the world into being. Just as Peter was called to the church, so are we- even in the messiness of humans we should root ourselves in the church for it is not created by man, but God. In Daniel 5 Babylon is at war and their king Belshazzar parties using the Jerusalem Temple cups, mocking the God of Israel. Daniel 5. Pride is a problem lying in every human heart. In Nebuchadnezzar, we see how God is committed to shattering the pride in our hearts, but only so that we can be raised up to new heights of glory. We see why pride is so destructive and how we can get free from it.

In Titus 3:4-8 Paul writes to encourage and empower believers in our grace through Jesus' sacrifice, reminding us of our new lives with an inheritance full of hope. As we are transformed we live within new boundaries- grace covers our sins yet we strive to live godly lives, devoting ourselves to the one who gave it all for us. 

Through the season of advent we can engage with the hope and expectation of Jesus coming, but it's also an opportunity to engage with the pain of waiting. We see this theme in the very first chapters of the Bible and as it develops we see that the increase in the pain we experience is a sign of the life and joy to come.

Luke 2:8-20, a short message shared with the whole Church family. Steve Shepherd tells us of when the angels visited him to share the news of the birth of Jesus. The Old Testament promises of a Messiah have been fulfilled as Jesus has come to be with us on earth, changing the history of the world for everyone.

Daniel 3. Is following God in our world today worth it? In Daniel 3 we see that faithfulness to God in Babylon is deeply costly, but if we fully embrace the cost & sacrifice, his promise is that he will be with us. As we enter the furnace, we get to enjoy deep, vivid relationship with Jesus himself.

In Daniel 2:24-49 we read the story of Daniel interpreting King Nebuchadnezzar's dream. We see how God there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries because of his grace.

In 2 Kings 5:1-5, 15 a little girl approaches a Syrian army commander who is in need of healing and shares the power of God with him. The commander is healed and declares a new found faith all because of this ordinary girl with an extraordinary message. Guest speakers Jon and Katherine Brown share how we are all messengers and ambassadors of God and encourage us to step out and share the gospel.
