Kids EN ↓ 153 episodes

We come to parenting with all the patterns we learned in our own childhood. Together in this podcast, we uncover the roots of our reactivity and grow in education, capacity, awareness, and skills so we will be able to respond vs. react to our strong-willed children. The beauty of this process is as you become a ResponseAble Parent, the "misbehavior" of your children will lessen, the yelling will fall away and a new level of companionship and cooperation will take its place. Welcome to the journey of ResponseAble Parenting. Take a deep breath in, slow exhale out, and let's get to work.

103. The reason it's not working 21.07.2025

In this episode I share more about that really frustrating cycle of trying something to break a negative cycle, it not going well, and then how we can often compare our journey to others - which creates more shame, self judgement, and tends to further solidify the negative pattern we're trying to get rid of in the first place.  But don't worry, I don't leave you in that :) I also share how to chan...

102. Hardest Part of Parenting 14.07.2025

In this episode I share a negative parenting pattern I discovered about myself while going through Fast Way To Regulate. As I was tracking my triggers and getting clear about why things were upsetting me the way they were I realized this one pattern was happening all the time and I hadn't even noticed it.  This is the power of this challenge. It takes the hard parts that are hiding in the shadows,...

98. Is your child "over reacting" or just doing what you taught them? 16.06.2025

I saw a dad at the baseball field tell their child to stop crying because they were overreacting that their push pop had fallen on the floor. It hit me like a gut punch. And that moment got me thinking hard about "over reacting." Was that little boy over reacting? I can't wait to hear what you think about this discussion! GET REGULATED! Inside the 30 Day Challenge FAST WAY TO REGULATE you will unc...

97. SHIFT HAPPENS when we change what we do when we're bored 09.06.2025

94. Why can't we get UNSTUCK from these patterns? 19.05.2025

I'm not sure why it took me so long to think of parenting like this 😂but when I was in my workout class today it struck me. We have such a positive association with the pain and growth of a workout, but we have such a negative association with the pain and growth in parenting. Why? Well a huge part of that is the neural programming around each area. And I talk all about that in this week's episod...

93. GUILT: Is it good for parents? 12.05.2025

In this episode I share the $h!t storm that was my spring break. Not to excuse the behavior that resulted, but to share that you are absolutely not alone in the challenge that comes with parenting a strong-willed ADHD child.  Today we talk about guilt and how guilt can keep us stuck in a never ending loop of self deprecation, loathing, disappointment, and reactivity. AND how we can move away from...

91. Are you setting yourself up for failure or success with your kid? 28.04.2025

Unconsciously we are setting ourselves up for failure over and over again with our kids. We head into each and every interaction with stored emotions in our bodies telling us whether or not we should be guarded or open.  In this episode I share the foundational step to shift this pattern in our bodies. How you can instantly increase your tolerance level and support yourself to a better outcome.  A...

90. Is Empathy Weakness? 21.04.2025

In this episode I address whether or not I believe empathy is a sign of weakness. Or "weak parenting."  Elon Musk has been in the news saying "the fundamental weakness of western civilization is Empathy." However I think it's one of the biggest strengths for humanity. When we can SEE each other, when we can seek to understand each other we are in fact stronger. Both personally and as a nation.  I...

89. 5 Reasons Why Gentle Parenting ISN'T Working For You 14.04.2025

In this episode I share the 5 reasons I see that gentle parenting isn't working for you. These are what I'm seeing across comments, questions I get asked weekly, my client's perspectives and community members.  And I want to acknowledge that it's hard to transition from one parenting style to another. Especially one that forces us to look at our own stuff vs. focus on our children's behavior.  I h...

This episode is a wonderful conversation discussing how we as parents can shift our focus, our reactivity and the lens in which we view our children with brain-based differences. You get to hear from expert Eileen Devine on how she approaches parenting frustrating behaviors from a skill deficiency lens vs an intentional defiant lens. I hope you enjoy this conversation and feel hopeful in how we ca...

We've all been there, when we say no to something and our toddler all the sudden goes completely dead weight and falls to the ground...

85. Parenting with Grief 17.03.2025

This is a very special episode! 84. When things don't go according to plan 10.03.2025

Ever been there when things are going pretty smoothly and then one thing derails you and all the sudden you find yourself reacting as if all hell broke loose? In this episode I share some tools to really supp...

83. Realistically what this work looks like 03.03.2025

It's easy to think that everyone else has it figured out as a parent. That you are the only one failing and have totally messed up your kid. That every time you yell or threaten you have to go back to the drawing board and start completely over.  In this episode I share a rough moment with my son. I share how I fell back into old patterns and how I totally forgot to use every skill at my fingertip...

82. Stop looking to your kids to validate your parenting 24.02.2025

In this week's episode I share a subtle thing I've noticed across all the parents I work with. A little hiccup that keeps us stuck, that keeps us in a frustrated power loop and draws us back into conflict with our kids.  It's this longing and almost expectation that our kids are going to validate our hard work as parents. We've done so much work, we're putting in a tremendous amount of effort and...

81. How curiosity builds respect 17.02.2025

I get a lot of haters in my comments. And while that comes with the territory and seems to be the cultural norm these days, I have to believe we can speak to each other differently. And while I'm not a saint, and clap back at times, I do try to practice what I preach. And that is to get curious as to why the person is saying what they're saying. You'll see me write "I'm curious…" to start many of...

80. Mama Trauma 10.02.2025

First off, shout out to you mama for tackling cycle breaking and doing the work. This is NOT easy stuff and I am here to cheer you on.  I think it's very easy to point the finger to our parents (especially our moms) and say "because of the way she modeled things I am 'x'" or "the way she did this messed me up." YES all of that is your experience and 100% valid. I am not taking that away from you....

79. How do I "fix" this?! 03.02.2025

You are right to notice that there are a million scary things flying at you at all times right now. And you are right to want to fix these immediately in order to not feel so uncomfortable and in order to keep you and your family safe.  But we cannot be effective if we are reacting every minute to fear.  In this episode I share how we can create a safe place internally so we can be effective exter...
