Humans have the tendency to categorize each other and then reject each other based on those categories. It could be based on ethnicity, socioeconomic status, wealth, social status, religion, political, or other categories. The only category that matters to God is the category of faith. He accepts all who have faith in Him.

In a world that is filled with sin and darkness, God has a solution that seems unexpected. God's redemption of the world does not rely on how good we are. Rather, God's redemption of the world relies on the Messiah, Christ, who redeems the unexpected. Faith is commendable to God, not performance.

It is easy for us to substitute meaningless things for the things that have eternal value. When we devalue things that have eternal value, it is profaning God's name. It is our job as priests to guard the value of things that God has put His name on. Leviticus is about God training us how to be in relationship with Him and how to glorify His name.

God gives a warning to his people about the importance of keeping holy things holy. He wants to ensure that others recognize that the things he calls holy are "unusual" in relation to common experience in the world. This has significant implications for those who believe Jesus, who because of what Jesus accomplished have been called "holy" by God.

The world system is built on the lie that we can only survive and thrive if we prove ourselves, better, stronger, and more powerful than our neighbors. God challenges that lie by telling His people to trust Him for their thriving and surviving and simply love their neighbors as themselves.

Many of the cleanliness laws in Leviticus caused the Israelites to pay attention to their nearness to death. Death is not the way things are supposed to be and is a corruption to God's good creation. God was forming a culture to hate death and create the context for a messiah who came to defeat death.
