In this section, James brings up how we fight and argue with one another but how it's really about far more than just that. When we fight, it shows an inward desire that's gone unchecked. A desire that finds it's roots in a friendship with the world, and not with God. The good news, Jesus offer rest for the weary...and the proud. (06-30-19)

Wisdom is talked about throughout the Bible and obviously an important everyday part of our life for small decisions and large ones. So, where does this wisdom come from and maybe just as important, where doesn't it come from? (06-23-19)

Our tongue can be a powerful tool used to build or a powerful weapon used to tear down. James has some strong counsel when it comes to our tongues and the power they hold. How do we tame the tongue? We look to and rely on Jesus. (06-16-19)

We are justified by faith, right? So why all of this talk about works? This week we hit the heartbeat of the book of James; the reality that faith without works is dead. While trials test our faith, how we live and respond in the day to day reveals our faith. As James makes incredibly clear in this passage, it's not enough to simply hear, read, or know the gospel. With true faith in Jesus, action always follows faith. (05-26-19)

Endurance is a powerful word but an even more powerful way of living; especially when trials come our way which they inevitably will. How we endure and stand firm in the faith not only shows our trust in Jesus but shows our love for Him as well. (05.19.19)

Is it wrong to have money? Is it wrong not to have money? There are so many different views and ideologies on this swirling around Christian circles. What we find in James is that it's not about what you have in monetary wealth, it's about knowing what you have in Christ and living accordingly. (05-12-19)

Some things seem to go together easily, while others seem to stand at odds with one another. This week, we look at the interesting relationship between trials (difficulties) and joy. How is it possible to have joy, even in the storms of trials? James 1:2-8 offers us a lot of clarity and reminds us to ground ourselves in "what is", not "what happens." (05-05-19)

Is compromising a little here and a little there when it comes to Jesus, the gospel, and the bible really that big of a deal? Jesus answers this question very clearly in His letter to the church of Pergamum. (03-17-19)

In this letter to the church in Smyrna, Jesus calls the church to stand firm and not fear the persecution they are facing. Although we are not facing this kind of persecution in the United States, many of our brothers and sisters around the globe are. This week we start a new series looking at Jesus' letter to seven churches in the book of Revelation.
