I. The life saving faith receives, v5. II. The relationship saving faith pursues, vv5-6. III. The Rewarder saving faith believes, v6.

The deficiencies of old covenant worship under Moses: 1) The fading glory of the earthly tabernacle, vv1-5. 2) The restricted access to the tabernacle for the people, vv6-8. 3) The limited effect of the tabernacle ritual to purify the conscience, vv9-10. But with Jesus we get God, access to God, and a clean conscience.

Jesus is the mediator of a better covenant, enacted on better promises. What promises? I. Inner Transformation, v10b. II. Adoption, v10c. III. Personal Knowledge of God, v11. IV. Complete Pardon, v12.

Jesus is the better mediator of a better covenant than Moses. I. Continuities. II. Discontinuities.

I. v1 He sat down at the right hand of the majesty. II. vv2-4 He serves in the tent made by the Lord. III. v5 He's the substance not the shadow or copy.

Why do we need Jesus? I. His priesthood is flawless not fallen, v26. II. His sacrifice is final not frequent, v27. III. His mediation is forever not finite, v28.

On the occasion of the organization of Redeemer as a particular church of the Presbyterian Church in America. What should we do? I. vv1-6 Maintain our unity. II. vv7-12 Use our gifts. III. vv13-16 Keep our focus.

Jesus is the better priest. Why? I. Because of God's oath, vv20-21. II. Because he's the guarantor of a better covenant, v22. III. Because he always lives to intercede for believers, vv23-25.

Jesus is a better hope than the Old Testament law could give. Why? Because the law gave a priesthood that brought imperfection, was impermanent, and was based on the inability of law.

Jesus is the priest who brings us to God. I. Melchizedek resembles Jesus, vv1-3. II. Melchizedek is greater than Abraham, and so is Jesus, vv4-7. III. Melchizedek is greater than Aaron, and so is Jesus.

What are the grounds of assurance for Christians? I. The promise and oath of God, vv13-15 II. The character of God, vv16-18 III. The Son of God, vv19-20

I. Assurance is possible. II. Assurance should be both a pastoral priority and our personal priority. III. Assurance is productive of perseverance.
