Being known by God is never a private comfort. It's an invitation into His purposes, a charge to shape our households after His character, and a call to trust His justice even when we don't yet see the whole picture.

After years of promise but no child, Sarah finds the promise of God too good to be true, even laughable. But what seems impossible is only a reminder that nothing is too hard for the Lord.

In Genesis 18, Abraham has an encounter with the Lord that leads to incredible grace driven hospitality. A reminder that we too are changed by the grace of God to bring generous hospitality to others.

In Genesis 17:15–27, God asks Abraham to trust a promise that makes absolutely no sense. Abraham is nearly one hundred years old, Sarah is ninety, and God says they are going to have a son. Abraham laughs. He offers God an alternative plan through Ishmael because it seems more realistic and manageable. Yet God reminds Abraham that His promises are not dependent on human ability but on divine faith...

God makes a covenant with Abraham to be his God. This is an incredible and eternal truth for us today.

Genesis 17 teaches us that when God’s people reach the end of themselves, they discover that God is more than enough. The covenant promises of God do not rest upon human ability but upon divine faithfulness.

After Abram takes Hagar as his wife, Hagar flees from the mistreatment of Sarai. As she journey’s into the wilderness, God meets her there and reveals Himself as the God who hears and sees the needs of His people.

After God’s promise to give Abram and Sarai an heir, ten years pass and Sarai decides to help God. This leads to suffering and pain because of a lack of trust in God. However, He is faithful in all things, especially His promise.

After Abram’s faith, God again reassures him of this promise by making a covenant with Abram. This covenant however, is solely dependent on God. Because of God’s faithfulness, we can rest in the certainty of these promises.

After receiving the promise from God, Abram is still dealing with fears and doubts. However, after God reassures him, Abram believed! This is the same powerful truth for Christians today, to believe in the Lord.

After Abram’s successful mission to rescue his nephew Lot, he is met by two kings. However one king brings a blessing pointing us towards the one and true priest-king… Jesus.

4 Eastern Kings come and conquer 5 southern Kings and end up taking Lot and his possessions. Abram gathers his trained men and allies and heads out to rescue his nephew. This is a glimpse of our need for rescue from our greatest enemy.

In light of Jesus’ resurrection, what should we believe and how should we live as a resurrected people?

After sacrificing his life in the cross for our sin, Jesus was buried in Joseph’s tomb. However on the third day, God raised him to life defeating Satan, sin and death!

On Palm Sunday Jesus enters Jerusalem and is celebrated as the “king who comes to save.” However, his face was set like flint to complete his mission of the cross.

As Abram and Lot return to the land of Canaan a dispute between their herdsman arises. Abram shows us that a life of faith is marked by making peace and trusting in the Lord’s promise.

After failing and living from fear, Abram returns to the land of promise and begins to worship. This reminds us that a life of faith is filled with repentance and worship.

Abram has a moment of fear and begins to take matters into his own hands. Will this action disrupt God’s plan of promise? And how can we learn to trust God and His promises when we fear?

Abram builds an altar of worship to God as he initially enters the promise land. We too, must builds altars of worship to God by faith in Him and His promises. Likewise, we must tear down any altars we’ve built on false hopes.

God calls to Abram to leave his land and trust in the promises of God. As we learn about Abram’s faith, we too can learn how God’s promises hold for those who step out in faith.

Sharing the good news of Jesus was vital and important to the early church and God drew many into the kingdom by their faith and witness. Mission is at the heart of every church!

Along with the Word of God, biblical community and prayer… worship was key to the growth of the early church. Worship is invaluable for the church today.

What did the disciples in the early church commit themselves too? They made prayer a priority and so should we.
