Real Recovery

Jesus never gives up on us, even when we consistently do the wrong thing. Multiple trips to prison, dealing meth, getting kicked out of treatment programs – none of it could thwart the Lord's plan for Phil. Even when he felt hopeless, Christ was present in the midst of it all.

*This program originally aired on October 31, 2021 Often times we can feel so lost and off track, yet also have no idea where to turn or what to do to change things. It wasn't until Mike was challenged by his brother to get into the Word of God that things started to change.

The evil one is consistently trying to trip us up , but so often we don't know what to do in order to stop it. It ends up taking over our lives - until we can find a solution. The Lord never gave up on Sarah, and now she can confidently claim to be a new creation in Him .

For many, the choice to use can be seen as a way to fix the affliction in their life. It was one day while in prison that Glen got the best gift he had ever received, even though it didn't feel like a gift. He in that moment for the first time saw who he really was and from there things would never be the same.

Even when we wander far away from what we were taught and turn our back on Him, the Lord still doesn't give up on us. Shane learned that the only way to move forward with his life and make a serious change, was to ask God to do the work that only He can do. God the Great Physician showed him, that he needed to surrender.

The recovery process is rarely ever a straight path for anyone, and often it includes multiple cycles of ups and downs even after the first stretch of sobriety. Dean tried to end all of the pain and despair multiple times, but each time the Lord intervened. He eventually learned that when Jesus begins a good work, He brings it to completion.

We're all searching for a purpose to live for and it can be easy to get caught up in all the lies the world sells to us. Kim got to the place of desperation and called out for Jesus to reveal Himself to her- and He showed her the truth of what He offers to everyone .

Shawn Maves got drawn to bodybuilding at a young age and it wasn't until he learned that God has our hearts set on eternity that things began to turn around.

When you're an addict, you turn your life over to slavery. The Lord kept stepping into Dennis' life and did not give up. Jesus gave him the ability to handle the things that he could never seem to deal with before.

Being surrounded by violence and constant fighting growing up isn't an ideal situation for anyone. It's a tough place to be in when there's no direction on moving forward in life. When the Holy Spirit got a hold of Clinton he then was on fire, for all the right reasons.

Many won't admit it but we're all searching for true peace in our lives, even if we're not aware of it. It took him getting into prison for Brian to experience this, and get to the place of the greatest content he's ever had. Totally submitting to God's will being the center of his life allowed the transformation to begin.

Justin Lackmacker from Redemption House shares how addiction is a slow progression into slavery and Jesus is the only source of recovery.

We can sometimes place our identity in something that seems worthwhile, but ends up only being temporary. When it suddenly gets ripped away from us, it's hard to move forward with life.
