Providence Road Church – Sermons

We display a picture of the Gospel when we lovingly give ourselves to one another in marriage. When we put our needs first in marriage we fail to love our spouse, and the message of the Gospel is not displayed. In this passage, we look at how the Gospel relates to marriage.

God created marriage to serve as a picture that would show His faithfulness in covenant to His people. In this first sermon of our marriage series, we look at why marriage is a covenant and not merely a commitment.

Living on mission in everyday life involves paying attention to those around us and asking good questions, among other things. In this sermon, we look at Jesus and His interaction with the woman of Samaria as a model for how we can interact with people around us.

We continue our theme of Christmas by looking at how the Scriptures describe Jesus coming as "light." We look at four things Jesus coming as light reveals.

The exchanging of gifts is such a big part of our Christmas traditions. On this Christmas Eve we look at how the Magi responded to the gift of Jesus coming into our world.

The Bible gives us many reasons to believe that God loves us. However, there is one way we can know for certain that He loves us, He sent His Son – Jesus – to earth. This morning, we consider how the incarnation of Jesus sets into motion a string of events that will change us forever. And how it all happens because of His great love for us.

Without God's presence, we can't have true, lasting joy. We look at the importance of Jesus's first coming and how that relates to our joy.

In this second Saturday of Advent sermon, we look at how the coming of Jesus brings peace in a world of chaos.

In a season that promises us hope that ultimately does not satisfy our longings, we can find true and ultimate hope in the first coming of Jesus. Luke 2:21-38 helps us see that.

In the final chapter of the book, God tells Jonah why He has chosen to forgive Nineveh. In this sermon we look at why God wants cities to be redeemed with the gospel and how we can become people who join Him in this mission.

For Orphan Sunday, we will look to the Bible to consider specific ways that followers of Jesus live out their faith in Jesus by the works that they do. James specifically mentions caring for orphans in the context of being doers of the word and not just hearers of the word. We'll examine specific ways we do that at Providence Road.

There are a lot of things that compete for our attention. But there is one thing that deserves our full attention, the person and work of Jesus. In this passage packed full of truth we learn why Jesus deserves our full attention.

We often see repentance as a negative thing and avoid it, or we go about it the wrong way. In this chapter of Jonah, we see the Ninevites go through a process of repentance that is common throughout Scripture. A life of consistent repentance gives us the opportunity to experience freedom and joy on a consistent basis.

In His mercy, God gives extra chances to undeserving people. However, even though we might know facts about God's mercy there are often barriers that prevent us from applying His mercy to ourselves and others. We look at two of these barriers as we walk through Jonah 3.

Chapter 2 of Jonah should haunt us and shake us out of our spiritual sleepiness because we are so often just like Jonah in regards to disobedience. It should also encourage us through because despite a glaring lack of merit, Jonah still experiences the mercy of God and is given a heart to declare in thankfulness, “Salvation comes from the Lord.”

There is nothing we can do to stop God’s pursuit of us. If God wants to change us with His grace and mercy, He will do it. In the first chapter of Jonah we see God pursuing both Jonah and some sailors, and in this sermon the question is, "how is God pursuing us?"

The book of Jonah begins with Jonah running from God’s task of going to Nineveh. In this sermon, as we look at Jonah, we ask ourselves how we are prone to run from God and how God’s mercy meets us in our running.

We conclude our Core Values Series of Providence Road. Jeremy teaches us how to support and participate in healthy church planting within our Gospel Communities and as individuals.

From the beginning of the Bible to the end we see clearly that God has a mission that He's been carrying out. In this mission, we see clearly God the Father's sovereignty, our given identity as missionaries, and the empowering of the Holy Spirit. We continue our series talking about the mission and values of Providence Road and how we are designed to live missional.

When following Jesus we must have an intentional plan for how we will grow to look more like Him. We continue our series talking about the mission and values of Providence Road. Jeremy preaches on how we are designed to be Disciples of Jesus in all of life.

How we relate to God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit is the most important question any human being will ever ask or answer, so we begin this sermon series on the church's core values by looking at our first value of Gospel Centrality: We center our lives on the Word of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

At the end of this Psalm David says, "You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore." He is able to get to this point by declaring and exulting in what God is for him in verses 1-10. David gives us a great example of how we can worship God in such a way that leads us to increase our freedom and joy in Jesus.

In this very well known Psalm David is worshiping God by recalling how He has protected and provided for him as shepherd. David reminds us of God's character to help us as needy sheep and points us to Jesus as our Good Shepherd.
