Prompt Queens

Yes, we missed last week and we missed you. This week's prompt gets us talking about all kinds of things including clover, lawncare, aging, kids going off to college, Flight of the Conchords. So, ya know, a pretty typical episode for us. You never know what's going to happen and neither do we. Enjoy!

Fear not, we don't need no stinking roadside assistance when it comes to repairing this situation. We've got brains and guitars, pens and paper, and this prompt to get us going. The prompt is: flat tire.

Ooohhhh, there's so much possibility that it feels like an ocean of prompts all in one prompt? But is it, though? We hope you enjoy this episode of Prompt Queens.

The girls enter the world of the fantastic and godlike. Kinda. Join Emily and Hope as they work through the prompt, "Mythology" 

This episode has enough cheap beer, beach vibes, hot hits, Jeeps, and young people with under-developed pre-frontal corteces on Spring break in 1989 enough to satisfy the most sun-deprived midwesterners among us. And it has Hope and Emily writing songs about South Padre Island using their imagination and the internet. 

The episode for today is "Baseball." America's pasttime. And who knows more about the great old game than Hope and Emily? Like, everyone. Most people know more about baseball than we do. It's summer time, we have a prompt and we're writing songs. We hope you are too.

You know which band rules? REO Speedwagon. This week Emily and Hope try their hand at writing like those guys and get a chance to fall in love with the universal love song all over again. They couldn't fight the feeling any longer and you won't either once you give a listen.

We're back! We did it. We knew we'd come back and now we have and we've written songs and we're so glad you've joined us. This week's prompt was: Graduation.

We are back with our first pandemic episode recorded over Zoom.  This week we take a stab at Western Meadowlarks.  A figurative stab at the prompt Western Meadowlark.  It's good to be back.  We missed you!

This is not a Debbie Gibson episode (though, note to self for later), but we do write to a title she used: Out of the Blue.  As always, two different takes on a theme, two different approaches, a unified love of jokes and nonsense.

It's good work if you can find it, but Hope & Emily write pretty bleak songs about factory work this week: one historical and one contemporary.  You can write your own song about the factory and send it in!

Do we apologize in advance? Do we write a disclaimer?  IDK, you can see what the title of this episode is.  You know what you're getting into.  Despite the terrible prompt and questionable songs, it's a pretty good episode.  You should write your own terrible song to this terrible prompt and share it with us!

Ho, ho, ho and hallelujah!  Hope & Emily sing a couple Christmas tunes for you this week and wish you and yours a great year's end no matter what or how you celebrate and encourage you to keep writing.

We're tackling a giant.  Today we write songs a la our hero, Tom Petty, and take a deep dive into songwriting nerd-dom.  When one of us is counting out beats while the other is playing her chorus, you know we've reached a new level.  We're glad to be back after a two week break and ready to finish out the year!
