Hello Dear Listener, First, my apologies for getting this out one day later. Second, this is a continuation of our first 30 Word song prompt episode and you may wish to go back and listen to that one before you dive into this one (definitely not necessary). This week Emily and Hope. use the SAME 30 words to construct new songs and in this one you'll find out how they did. 

We love Taylor. Who doesn't? She's had such a great long and diverse career that there were lots of options to choose from when thinking about how to write a song like her. Tune in this week and then write your own!

Music is a great teaching tool. Songs that teach ideas are as old as ideas and songs put together. This week, Emily and Hope write some songs to teach everyone a thing or two. Two things. She teaches one thing in song and I teach another. Have a listen then write your own!

The prompt today is "re-runs." So all you latch key kids, don't answer the door or answer the phone til Mom comes home from work and settle in for a long afternoon of, you guessed it, reruns.

What do we know stuff about? Not that much. But we DO know a thing or two about small town news. That's our prompts, these are our songs, and you are still awesome. 

I think by now you know about how old Emily and Hope are and in this episode they double down on the nostalgia and Gen X vibe while talking through their "Reality Bites" inspired songs one bite at a time. "Melrose Place is a really good show." 

New episode one day late but still awesome! Hopie had some post-production google search How Tos to get through in order to post this show, and I think we'll all agree it was worth the wait! The prompt is Fireplace but don't expect a controlled burn when the Prompt Queens are on fire. Write songs, everybody!

It's all Left Shark all the time this episode only we're not wearing costumes and it's not the Super Bowl and none of us are famous. Katy Perry is a great songwriter who has had amazing success writing some meaty, catchy as hell tunes and today we get to hang out with her muse. Have a listen, go back and listen if you haven't had a Katy Perry listening party lately. You can thank us later.

What do two songwriters do to make it tough on themselves? They choose the prompt, "30 words." But it was fun and we've missed you and it turned out to be a really cool prompt. 

Do you have an epic timeless tale of revenge or love or falling off a cliff in a long dress? Me neither. But the Decemberists do, so fear not. We tackle this kickass band and either do them a service or a disservice with our attempts. But ya know what? WE had a great time doing it. Write those songs, humans! The world needs your feelings and stuff.

The Edit Episode has Hope and Emily revisiting old songs from the podcast and taking a stab at editing. Hope chose her song from the "Tents" episode and Emily chose her song from the "Trains" episode. "Please put a penny in the poor Prompt's hat." It is holiday season, the bells are ringing and the prompts are flowing red and green and tinsel-ly in the moonlight everybody. Hope and Emily try their hand at some holiday cheer using 1-4-5 chords as always. And, in the spirit of the season, THANK YOU to our listeners and friends for being so awesome and hanging out with us from Prompt to Prompt. 

The girls are back. We knew they would be and they've written some sweet sweet sing along tunes for you and your's. 

Who says a song needs to rhyme? Not us! We do what we want. And, on this episode, we chose not to rhyme. Do we love that choice? Yeah sure. Learning and growing and what not. To reach levels of non-rhyming songs such as Paul Simon's America, Suzanne Vega's "Tom's Diner," REM's "Sidewinder Sleeps." We love those songs and we think you're great.

And we're in crowns and sashes and dreaming of world peace, everyone. Thank you, as always, for listening!

In these final days when we are living squarely between the waining warmth of old September and the coming cold of old Frost McGee. Hope and Emily capture fall leaves in a bottle and never, not even once, bring up Pumpkin Spice anything. Enjoy.
