"The deliberate vigil of a man who is fighting sleep" Lent 3 Midweek 2022 23.03.2022

As the church prayed for Peter, chained in prison by Herod, the afflicted and saddened church spent that night remembering the God who brought forth His people from the oppression and bondage of Pharaoh and thus inspired she prayed for the renewal of God's wonders. Even today, the church gathers on the night that begins the Paschal feast for the Easter Vigil. Like the church of Acts, we continue t...

"A real battle, not some pre-modern myth" Oculi 2022 20.03.2022

Is it more reasonable not to believe that there is a devil? Whence then comes all the evil in the world? From whence comes all that really deserves to be called diabolical and satanic? "The Light of the World who rescues us from the chaos, the darkness, the void" Lent 2 Midweek 2022 17.03.2022

As Asaph laments, however, he remembers that the very act of Creation was a deed of deliverance. Making things from nothing, the Lord did battle. Nothingness is not neutral. Existence is not natural to nothingness. Nihilism rejects all reality as without meaning and purpose, neither created nor formed. That’s the religion of the post-modern man, confessing that we have killed God, and with His dea...

"Jesus speaking and you listening is not child’s play" Reminiscere 2022 13.03.2022

Jesus’ interaction with the Syro-Phoenecian woman is a lovely picture of how He interacts with you. What He spoke was as much for her and His disciples as it is for you. In the struggle between what you experience and what He says, Jesus builds trust. He exposes truths that the sinner hates. He ruins misplaced beliefs and false hopes. He devastates selfish esteem and pride. Anything and anyone who...
