Part 3 of our series entitled “Beautiful Resistance”. We are filled with desires, which are great motivators but when at the steering wheel of life, we fall into chaos. “We can’t get no satisfaction” because we have infinite desires in finite bodies. Jesus lays out a way of rest which is counter culture to our world of consuming, where we find satisfaction and flourishment.

Part 2 of Beautiful Resistance - this week’s theme was “worship must resist idolatry”. We are all designed to give worth-ship, for something to have our heart. The great contention in our lives is where will it be placed. We think of idols as statues and other mythical objects yet idolatry is very much alive in western culture. How do we resist in a world that is pulling for our worship?  

We kicked off our new series "Beautiful Resistance". "This needs to be stronger than that..." The world is trying to disciple the church. It has a story it wants you to believe, it has practices it wants you follow, in which all end in emptiness… How do we as followers of Jesus practice a beautiful resistance?

To be constant in life we need to be grounded in something that is constant. To be consistent we need tools that our consistent and environments which can breed consistency. We find in life that what we thought was constant is not... and we are shaken... what can we build upon that is constant?

When a light shines on an object it helps bring clarity to what it is. We can shine light on good or bad things. It matters on what we illuminate as often we shine light on our actions rather than the root of our identity.

Pastor Craig continued our series on what it means that the light has come. Like the children of Israel we can put our confidence in so many different things but the light calls us to lean into His ways.

This Sunday we kicked off our new series "The Light Has Come" - in a season of trial and darkness we need reminded of a big God and the true reality of what the birth of Jesus brought. The light has come but what is it calling us too?

We finished up our series for now "A People Empowered" this past Sunday! Being witnesses to Jerusalem, your Jerusalem, your Home. We see in Acts 2:42:47 the actions of the disciples who have been filled with the Spirit have compassion for their home. We look at 3 things that we see from Acts passage that cultivates compassion. 

We are empowered with a witness that overcomes and transforms this world! But quite often we our witnesses to an age of cynicism and Cancel Culture which looks to pull down another, see only the negative, question everything…  and so we lose the wonder. We see in the book of Acts followers of Jesus voices were empowered when filled with the Spirit! Our voices are the most power weapon given to us. Our voices are given authority by assignment. As we focus on the assignment given to us, authority is given to empower our voices.

The power we receive with the Holy Spirit, is a power to see signs, wonders, and miracles, but it is also power to transform us. When we stir the Holy Spirit in us, we are changed. The power gives us the strength that to walk out every day and be who the world around us needs. We already have all that we need, but we must be stirred up regularly. 

Acts 1:8 is our scripture verse for this series "A People Empowered". It says we will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon us. The Holy Spirit is a long awaited gift and more than ever the church needs to show that power to the world! One of the first steps to acting in power is how do you receive it? How do you receive a gift?

We are faced on daily bases by community killers - Busyness, Isolation, Fear & Shame, Inward Focus. There is power in community that can transform us and our world, John looks how we overcome community killers and the fruit we will see in community. 

Suffering is an integral part to our transformation into Christ Likeness (Rom 8:17, Roman 8:28-29 1 Peter 6:7) which is a far cry from the western narrative of the only pursuit of happiness. Equally we were never called to suffer alone. How do we let suffering do its work to see us thrive? 

In these chaotic moments of life where the world seems to fall apart, our identity as Christians comes alive. We are the living hope for this world! Will you act in it or move with the world?

Have you ever felt a wrestling inside yourself of who am I? Or am I who I am meant to be? Most of us feel this battle of inside of us, a battle of false self & true self. Looking at the story of Peter we see Jesus desires in community for us to discover our authentic selves. Enjoy this message as Pastor Jonny pulls out Jesus heart for an authentic community. 

Ground zero to Following Jesus In Community is, what is Jesus' view of community? What does he think its suppose to be? Jesus was not only offensive in His teaching but also by who he called community, family... What was so radical about it and why should it matter to us?

Pastor Craig finished up our series looking at Matt 5:38-48 - Retribution and loving your neighbor in the gap.

As we continue our teaching from the sermon on the mount we look at the passage of Matt 5:33-37 on Oaths. How does this teaching guide us in the gap? What does this mean for us as followers of Jesus?

As we continue our "IN THE GAP" series we read through Matthew 5:27-32 and Jesus' response to Objects and Oppressions. 

Religion says keep your outward actions right but as follower of Jesus calls to a heart change beneath the surface. We look at Anger in Matthew 5:21-26 and how Jesus calls us to live.

We have started a new series "In The Gap". A life as a Christian is to stand in the gap to see a shift of Gods Kingdom in our worlds. How to do we stand in the gap and thrive? What posture do we take? This past Sunday we looked a Joy in the gap

We are warned about gaps in life, don't fall down the gap, you will get hurt in the gap. As we experience an ever growing gap in our nation God speaks of a different story, He is looking for followers to stand in the gap. What does it mean to stand in the gap? How do we stand in the gap?
