Podcasting in Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club

I trick the members of this group at Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club to believe that this is the end of podcasting and we are moving on to another media type of class. I just wanted to see if this was the end and their last podcast what would be the topics they would talk about.

Some groups are not doing much in podcast and I am willing to help them make it fun again. This group I think is ready for this podcast to be their last one. I will not let them quit on me.

I am happy when I see people giving back to their community. It's hard to get teenagers up from bed and on a weekend it might be harder. I will like to big up our BECA interns because they come out and help when we asked them. We appreciate your help and community service.

Today we open our doors at Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club Coudert Clubhouse to our community. We are here on a Saturday doing a food pantry and giving coats away to anyone in need. We are joined by multiple representatives from NYC Government explaining different services they can take advantage of. Thank you to everyone that was part of this Community Service Day.

I sit down with Ms. Thea McRae Scholarship Coordinator and we talk about the Kips Bay Scholarship Program. This program is for all Kips Bay Members and Alumni. This is free money and all you have to do is fill out a simple application. In the past we have giving over 80 scholarships to our members and alumni.

Finally a good debate. As a parent and an educator I ask myself this question all the time. This debate is a bit different because our members at Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club are taking the lead. They really make some good points for each side.

Some members at Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club call themselves sneaker heads. I will test them and ask how much they know about brands and up coming sneaker drops.

Today we had a wonderful field day with The Bronx Schools for Continuous Learners. It was so cool so see a bunch of students eager and ready to do Podcasting. We went around the room and asked for topics and that was also fun. We ended doing 6 podcast that day. I hope you all enjoy them.

As a member of the Department Of Education March tends to be a very long and grueling month for staff as we get all the students ready for city wide testing. I would be great to talk about our past vacations and new destinations we would love to go to. I would like to Thank the staff for being a part of the podcast.

Interns have a lot going on in their lives. They go to school, work and still have to worry about there SAT's and getting ready for college. I really like to see the interns I call the 95% and whats going on in there lives.

I don't think anyone likes school lunch. We have all had to eat school lunches at sometime in our lives. I tried to explain why its so bad. I personally liked school lunch at times. I hope this brings back  some memories.

We all should love our parents. Parents and there children have a special bond. I like to see our members smile and big up there parents. I hope everyone enjoys this podcast.

When we were young we created our own games. Some of the games we created had weird rules and funny ways to win. Today we talk about some of the games that we came up with.

Today I met Mr. Paul, Mr. Charlie, and Mr. Casey from PS 304 & MS 101. These Kips Bay Staff members came to the Coudert Clubhouse for a workshop on how to podcast. We enjoyed a few hour together having conversations and asking questions of each other about podcasting. I hope they left the clubhouse with a little for information than that of when they entered. I really enjoy having new interns. I miss my staff at BECA i have moved on but I really enjoy helping young people and this my way of giving back. I feel like I am going to enjoy speaking and working with this group of interns.

Community Service @ Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. It's an Saturday afternoon and the staff dumped up. All the inters are hear from BECA. This is sad but many of us and one time have been or will be racially profiled. This is the stories that we have about this topic. We learn how to deal with racism in our lives.

We sit down with our members and talk about one of the hardest topics Racism. It's not a easy conversation and it should be. It is very important to just be open and talk about what we know and more importantly what we don't know.

Black history month is the shortest month of the year but our members at Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club are not short of conversation. Every year we have a deep conversation about how black history effects us. 

Numbers rule our lives. There is not one step in the day that we don't use numbers. From the minute you wake up till you go to bed numbers effect everything we do.

Brents Club where we ask the hard questions of our youth. Have you ever been drug tested for any reason? Have you ever tasted alcohol? We really want to open up a line of communications with our members at Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club.
