Episodes

Remaining Free (Ep 328) 10.07.2026

Freedom in Monopoly is fairly straightforward. You have options. In the spiritual realm, you have only one option to gain true freedom: Faith in Jesus! But beyond that there are actions you can take to remain in the freeing relationship you have with God. Want more on this? Listen to my sermon, Finding Freedom, on the Friendly Words podcast of Pratt Friends Church. https://spotifycreators-web.app....

Never Forsaken (Ep 327) 26.06.2026

Are you ever alone? Do you face difficulties with out hope? Not if your trust is in the Lord, your helper.

Confortare (Ep 326) 19.06.2026

Who is the source of all comfort? What are we supposed to do with the comfort we receive?

In His Anger (Ep 325) 12.06.2026

God is not like us when he is angered. When people sin, he is not quick to judgment. He is patient, wanting all to repent.

In Your Anger (Ep 324) 05.06.2026

"In your anger, do not sin." Paul , quoting Psalm 4:4, says this to the church in Ephesus. Straightforward enough, right? How do we live it out? That's the difficulty.

Wrong Number (Ep 323) 29.05.2026

Ever have a long conversation with someone you mistakenly called? Small town moment! Can these situations bring blessing to others? Can they happen in a big city or a big church?

Dead or Not (Ep 322) 22.05.2026

If there is no resurrection, is Jesus alive? That is the question. Paul asks this question in 1 Corinthians 15 and then answers it.

Of First Importance (Ep 321) 15.05.2026

What must be included in the good news message? What can be left out?

Help Will Come (Ep 320) 08.05.2026

Verses from Isaiah 41 once helped someone I deeply love through a tough time. I was reading this chapter again recently and a song sprung to life. I share "Help Will Come" with you today, hoping you will put your trust in God, the one who upholds those he loves by his righteous right hand. Help Will Come Verse 1: I am the Lord your God; You are my chosen child; Do not be afraid; help wil...

Tinged (Ep 319) 01.05.2026

What you take in, what's inside you, comes out in the end. If you're wise in your own eyes, fleshly things will exit your mouth and heart. If the Spirit's within, good fruit will result.

Snatched Up (Ep 318) 24.04.2026

Ads for our sunrise service were mysteriously snatched off tables in restaurants around town. What happened? We'll never know. Sometimes, the good news is statched up and kept from people who hear God's word. What do we do?

Never Walk in Darkness (Ep 317) 17.04.2026

Light reveals things good and bad. True when seeking out pests in your garage. True when God is inspecting your heart.

Filtered (Ep 316) 10.04.2026

Some things are better filtered out. Algorithms do it on our computers and phones. God does it when we're tempted.

Best Friday (Ep 315) 03.04.2026

On the best Friday ever, Jesus paid for our sins on the cross. Reflect on his sacrifice. Hear the psalmist sing of it. Rest in the knowledge that what it took to purchase salvation is finished.

Just Two? (Ep 314) 27.03.2026

Did Jesus narrow the law down to just two commands or expand the law to include more of our life? That's the question raised by a recent Red Pen Logic critique of James Talarico's interview on the Joe Rogan podcast. This is my answer. Video I'm responding to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VBdBUUCfBc

I Am He (Ep 313) 20.03.2026

Thinking on Jesus' many "I am" statements found in John's gospel, I picked up an incomplete song from 2014 and penned the song I share in this episode. "I Am" is meant to lead all who listen to worship Jesus who is, along with the Father and the Spirit, God. I Am I am the bread of heav’n; come down to give you life Come unto me, you’ll never grow hungry again. I am the light of the world; don’t wa...

Denials (Ep 312) 13.03.2026

Jesus' followers want to follow him to the bitter end. They will abandon him when the heat's turned up. Peter claims he'll never leave. He still falls. On the other side, he finds God to be unchangingly faithful.

Fully Submitted (Ep 311) 06.03.2026

St. John of the Cross wrote the poem, The Dark Night of the Soul , while earnestly seeking to yield his will completely to God's will. He wanted nothing of himself to keep God from doing in him what he wanted. Jesus also submitted to the Father's will.

Systems (Ep 310) 27.02.2026

Because I have ADD (or is it ADHD?), I have developed all kinds of systems to keep my on track each day. While praying through my prayer requests spreadsheet the other day, God assured me of something especially encouraging to this easily distracted guy.

Collections (Ep 309) 20.02.2026

What happens when a dead man somehow drives down the Illinois Tollway and incurs tolls? He gets sent to collections and the amount he supposedly owes grows due to fees and fines. And there's nothing Violation Enforcement Services can do about it. Bills will continue to be sent until the Lord returns.

Wisdom and Law (Ep 308) 13.02.2026

The Law was never meant to limit our obedience to what was written, but to guide us in following God's heart in any situation which arises. We do so with the Spirit's help.

A Job-ish Week (Ep 307) 06.02.2026

What do you do when you're miserable? You praise God, right? Job said, "Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him." I'm trying that on for size while I deal with illness.

Freezer Meals (Ep 306) 30.01.2026

Those who don't eat leftovers are missing out on so much goodness. Those who read only from the New Testament are missing out as well. The New is understood better in light of what's in the Old.

Be Busy (Ep 305) 23.01.2026

What are believers supposed to be doing while they wait for Jesus' second coming? What does Jesus say on this matter?

Two Fish (Ep 304) 16.01.2026

A pair of strange shoes at the end of a middle school basketball court got me thinking about God's power to provide. Do I trust him for what I need?
