Pick Your Flick
Pick your Flick is a podcast about movies and friendship. Each episode, friends Bec and Liam discuss a film and share some personal friendship stories. No genre is off limits, and films include a mixture of old and new. It’s basically a book club with two people, but for films. Credits: we love our theme song-Electronic Rock (King Around Here) from AlexGrohl, thanks to pixabay.com. Other sounds from zapsplat.com and speechgen.io.

True Lies 18.12.2025 30:02
Liam brings another movie quiz for Bec, but this time it's a bit easier and in Bec's specialty area - which film is this song in? A bit of spoon feeding going on, but satisfying nonetheless. This episode's film is True Lies (1994), a secret-spy comedy-romance film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis. It gave huge 90s nostalgia, with flashbacks to Friday nights on the couch with a...
The Substance 04.12.2025 53:13
Liam has been naughty! Bec shares a couple stories about Liam's car-related cheeky behaviour. The hosts review 2024 smash hit body horror, The Substance. This film was wild, with incredible visuals and performances. The dark humour, shocking scenes and social commentary made it a must-watch - even when the watching was challenging!
Armageddon 20.11.2025 41:57
We are back for Season 2! The first three episodes were recorded in early 2025 - the rest of the season will be more contemporary! Contact us - Pickyourflick@outlook.com What better way to launch Season 2 than with a series of silly, immature, giggling rhymes about diarrhea - penned by the hosts on a train station floor some 17 years ago. For this week's film, Armageddon (1998), Bec and Liam di...

The hosts then dive into the unique genre of parody with a review of the 1984 comedy Top Secret. Along with guest speaker Ian, they dissect the quirky humour, clever scenes, and underwhelming storytel...
The Dive 15.02.2025 33:38
This episode, Liam crafts a trivia game to expose Bec's poor knowledge and memory of film directors. But it's fine, it's not like we're hosting a movie podcast or anything... Following last week's excellent film, this week the hosts discuss the not-so-excellent film The Dive (2023). Sometimes it's fun to hate! And to imagine alternate endings that could have made a bad film slightly more interest...
All Of Us Strangers 08.02.2025 42:35
This episode, Liam has a pivotal realisation about the format of this podcast, and the friends discuss a weekend shared in Brisbane. Minari 01.02.2025 36:49

Stay tuned at the end for a bonus conversation about how the hosts would fare in a hypothetical zombie apocalypse and whether a cinema would make a good place to hide. Please bear with us thr...
Poor Things 25.01.2025 39:08
The hosts play another friendship word association game to reveal Bec's a scatterbrain, Liam's a silent stumbler and they're both PC Tetris nerds. This week we unpack the Academy Award winning film, Poor Things (2023). Outstanding performances by Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo and Willem Defoe alongside beautifully scripted storytelling and cinematography make this one to remember. Where to watch Poor...
Cocaine Bear 18.01.2025 34:42
As always, Liam and Bec have a quick chat about what they've been watching lately. Liam introduces a friendship word association game to remember some friendship fun times including falling on his head at yoga, too much vodka, clams, diarrhea and Mr Marshmallow Man. This week we unpack Cocaine Bear, the 2023 comedy/horror (is it really a horror though??) in all of its glorious madness. We just c...
Death Becomes Her 11.01.2025 43:11
Your hosts discuss Liam's pick, the 1992 dark comedy Death Becomes Her. From excellent comedic performances to pettiness and plotting, it's an endlessly fun and quotable film. Please bear with us through some slightly patchy audio in this episode - better recording equipment is on its way! Where to watch Death Becomes Her: Binge, Apple TV
The Departed 07.01.2025 39:24
Bec and Liam unpack the 2006 Martin Scorsese drama, The Departed. With an all-star cast, excellent soundtrack and complex characters, there is a lot to like about this film. In contrast, the film Liam and Bec tried to make in year 9 wasn't as good... the hosts discuss how they had the vision, but maybe not the skills. Where to watch The Departed: Binge, Stan, Apple TV
