Pathfinder Church Messages

Grateful people are willing to try more and by sheer probability (plus the Lord’s blessing) they achieve more success. For some, success is a dirty word; it’s the Devil’s word. It’s a word that leads to pride. But, God desires us to have success in... Grateful people act courageously. Courage is the ability to rise above fear and scarcity to act with boldness. You’ll go after big things when you know that God is with you and for you and that his grace covers you. You’ll try things you would never... Grateful people view the future with optimism, or what the bible calls, “hope.” Hope is not naiveté; it is rooted in our trust in the faithfulness of God, no matter what may come. Grateful people choose to see the good things in their lives, their relationships, and their pasts, so their eyes are opened to seeing even more good things. In life, you tend to find what you’re looking for. If you want to become more grateful, begin... There’s a difference between the Church failing and God failing. But for many people, those two ideas are linked. Does the decline of American Christianity mean that God is irrelevant, or is there a more powerful reality going on? Just as God created... C.S. Lewis says that God whispers to us in our pleasures, but shouts in our pain. When things are going well, do we forget God? Do we only need God when we are suffering? True security only comes when we attribute our blessings rightly to the Lord... When disobedience, weakness, brokenness, or even busyness get in the way, we often think God’s given up on us. Instead, he relentlessly pursues us and invites us to confess. Owning up to our failures shifts our posture, acknowledges his disposition of... When people walk away from the faith, when bad people prosper, when the righteous suffer, where is God in that? This question will never have a satisfactory answer unless we align ourselves with a divine perspective: “When I tried to understand all... It’s hardest for those who have had spiritual highs to now feel as though they’re muddling through in their own strength and striving. You don't know how you can press forward because your soul is downcast and you can’t seem to kick-start it to a... Sometimes we feel isolated in our lives. Times when we would like God to speak or intervene, but he is distant or unresponsive. Even if God seems absent in our present struggles, we take heart from his past rescues (Ps 13:5-6), and his history of... This weekend we’ll share undeniable stories of life change that are happening to people here in our church, reaffirming that God is alive, active, and that life change is possible for all of us. Living under grace doesn’t mean we no longer evaluate the rightness of our actions (that leads us to ignoring things that could potentially devour us), but it does mean we no longer have to live under the weight of comparing ourselves to others or... The ultimate goal of our faith is freedom, something God longs to give freely and completely. But true freedom is much more complex than we think. Much of what we call freedom is more like anarchy and it’s not really freeing. The things that most threaten our abundance in Jesus are things that appear to be good, maybe even godly. When we allow our pet causes and concerns to overshadow or worse, supplant the Gospel, we are in serious danger, our faith is robbed of its power... 430 years before God gave the law, he made a promise and the substance of that promise was simple, “I am going to bless you and you will be a blessing.” For some reason, we don’t feel as though believing that promise is enough and so we wear God out... Since none of us are able to actually live a good life, it’s tempting to pretend like we do. Unfortunately pretending is a complete waste of time; it only leaves us worn and weary. Like classified documents, when it comes to sharing our stories we present highly redacted scripts, with our most unflattering and painful moments blacked out. Although we’re all trying to live “happily ever after”, Jesus is the only guarantee you’ll ultimately have a good ending to your story. There is no shortage of people, books, pills and methods that promise us help but they seldom deliver; they are no real help. Some people begin looking into Jesus because they’re looking for truth or morality. One often neglected aspect of Jesus is that only Jesus can make you full. It has been said that families who pray together stay together. But maintaining life-long bonds in a family requires more than prayer alone.
