Pathfinder Church Messages

Within a week’s time we’ll see Jesus go from the glory of his triumphal entry with palms and praise, to the glory of his resurrection from the grave. But in between are some of the most important—and tragic—events in all of human history. By walking... Why is it that the people who have the most in life are so often the least satisfied? Yet we think if we just had one more pay-raise, or a slightly bigger house, life would be better. Jesus claims to be the one thing we actually need in life. While we... What do you do when you discover that who you’ve come to be known as, is not true of you or it no longer fits the purposes God has in your next chapter? You take control of your reputation! The Scriptures show us that God is always ready to give a new... Objective truth feels like an ancient relic from the modern age. Oprah reflects our culture’s values when she says, “telling your truth” is the most powerful weapon we have. But, how can a person function in a society with no truth consensus? How are... In modern life, there is great pressure to stay in line, not stand out. Friends, media outlets, experts (even pastors), bombard us with how they think we should live, act, and believe, even though their advice just leaves us following the crowd. But... We live in a time of darkness and confusion. Christians seem to defend sexual predators, while Hollywood is holding abusers morally accountable. How do we see clearly what is going on around us? We have to follow Jesus’ guiding light. We can’t rely on... Many believe life is about achievements, but it’s really all about connections. Connection is the basis of everything good that happens in faith and life. Therefore, the measure of a life-well-lived has more to do with the part you play in inspiring... Are we willing to trust the person who calls out our imprisonment and offers us a way out? The cumulative force of Jesus’ “I am” statements leads us to the inescapable conclusion: He is the one true God, and the only one powerful enough to set us free... Sometimes the deeper people go into Christianity, the more pious, churchy, and detached they become from the world. They become (as the old saying goes), “So heavenly minded that they are of no earthly good!” Contrast that to Jesus, who being as... Who is “in” and who is “out”? As we struggle with the doubts of our own faith and the reality that we fall short in our attempts to follow Jesus, how do we know that we are actually part of God’s “in-crowd”? How do we have any surety of our own... Website | https://pathfinderstl.org Online Giving | https://pathfinderstl.org/give Podcasts | https://pathfinderstl.org/podcasts Facebook | https://face...

It’s impossible to watch Jesus and see him demonstrate anything but unconditional acceptance, even with the most unlikely people. But Christians are usually a different case. While the world is hungry for a sense of belonging, too easily we assume we... In life, it’s tempting to settle for less than God’s ideal, as long as we can keep limping along with our current situation. Our marriage pattern may not be great, but it’s good enough. I may not be the worker I want to be or at the job I’d crave, but... For many, the purpose of faith is to get you into heaven someday, which is only a portion of the promise God of eternal life God makes to us. Life begins in the here and now and it’s so rich that it goes on forever. Many of us have claimed the promise... When you’re a child, you look to someone bigger than you to provide, strength, courage and refuge. When we think of provision, our minds often go to the material stuff of life. Like the stuff in our storage room that we move from house to house, we carry the baggage of our sins and pasts from one year to the next. Too many of us believe the never-made promise that with God, life will be easy, victorious, and prosperous. God actually promises that life will be difficult, but then he promises something even richer. He says that none of the struggles, hardships... Many of us live under the sense that God is out to get us, or at least is our greatest critic.
