As Children of God, eagerly awaiting the return of our elder-brother Jesus, we ought to Communicate the Proof of our Sonship, Count the Privilege of our Sonship, Consider the Prize of our Sonship, & Continue in the Process of our Sonship.

Antichrists depart from the fellowship, deny the Christ of the Bible, and seek to deceive others. Little-christs abide in the message of the Apostle’s and in the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

It is impossible to love God truthfully and wholly while loving the world at the same time. In 1 John 2:15-17, on the heels of his pastoral poem of encouragement, John warns about the desires of the flesh, desires of the eyes, and the pride of life.

1 John is not only meant to convict false teachers of their sins and/or status in Christ, but it is also meant to encourage and assure the saints of their salvation.

John shares two proofs of  knowing we know the God of the Bible— Live as Jesus lived and love as Jesus loved.

Jesus is both our Advocate with the Father and the Propitiation for our sins.

Although believer’s often stumble in sin, and live in a world filled with darkness, it is impossible to habitually walk in darkness while remaining in fellowship with God. 

We preach the same words and same truths that the Apostle’s taught thousands of years ago. In his introduction, John writes that complete joy is found in our horizontal fellowship with the Saints and vertical fellowship with God.

Jesus first and final words to His disciples was (and still is), “Follow Me.”

Peter’s relationship with Jesus was reconciled on the shores of Galilee after he  reaffirmed his love for Christ, recommitted his life to Christ, and was  recommissioned  to serve in Christ-like ministry.

Although Christ is not here physically, He continues to provide for His people.

The Word of God exists to show us the risen Jesus.

The Resurrection was a true historical event that took place three days after the crucifixion. Scripture is soaked with tangible evidence for its validity. At the same time, Scripture also teaches that the Spirit of God must reveal that truth to one’s heart in order to believe. 

Christ’s death was the fulfillment of many Messianic prophecies. It bought our salvation and serves as further evidence for the legitimacy of Scripture.

Christ submitted Himself to the Father’s will in both His role as the Son of God and the son of Mary.

Whether you believe it or not, Jesus Is the King of Creation, the Son of God, and the unblemished Passover Lamb—God the Son. As Pilate and the Jews wrestled through their hatred and confusion of this Man called Jesus, His identity remained the same and His words/works continued to prove its validity.

To celebrate the dedication of a child, and the commissioning of her parents, we took a break this Sunday from our study in John to look at Deuteronomy 6. In this chapter, we learn the words of Moses to the people of Israel were meant to protect them from becoming like the canaanites. They were commanded to love God with all their heart, and to teach the Word of God to their sons and son’s sons.

To walk with Jesus requires more than lip service and empty religion.  The Pharisee’s practiced a love for God they did not truly possess, as they sought to kill the same Savior they claimed to be waiting on. 

When faced with a chance to claim his allegiance to Christ, Peter faltered in the face of adversity. Let us be careful before we point our fingers, to ask the Lord for grace to protect us from denying Him as well.

Jesus willingly, and knowingly, was arrested by Judas and others at the garden of Gethsemane in John 18. Just as God’s plan for redemption began in a garden, it also begins to end in one as well. Follow along with us as we draw near to the Cross, the Tomb, and the glorious Resurrection of Jesus the Nazarene in the coming months.

Jesus prayed for the Father to  preserve, protect, progress, and perfect  the disciples by His power and for His glory.

Sometimes, bad news makes good news even better!  In our text this morning, Jesus is preparing to leave the disciples behind and He tells them really bad news. A little while longer, however, and the Good News would come, by the power of the Holy Spirit and through the work of Jesus’s death and resurrection!

When Jesus left this world in the flesh of His humanity, He send the Holy Spirit to carry on Their work. The Spirit came to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgement; to guide the disciples in truth; and to clarify the glory of Jesus Christ.

During Jesus final moments with His disciples, He warned them of the hatred, persecution, and murderous behavior the world would treat them with. They would go on to experience these things because of their faith in Christ. As believers in the 21st century, how much more should we expect the same?
