Palestine Remembered

Palestine Remembered gives an update on the besieged Palestinian, Syrian refugee camp of Yarmouk as well as the trial of the Israeli solider convicted of killing 16 year old Nadim Nuwara, Palestinian Novelist Ibrahim Nasrallah as well as some recent BDS wins.

Palestine Remembered commemorates the Deir Yassin Massacre of April 9 1948, Palestine Prisoners Day April 17 and the 30 anniversary of the assassination of Palestinian leader Khalil Al-Wazir, we also commend the heroic efforts of Palestinian of medical workers and in particular Nisreen Ameerah, we also remember Palestinian artist Jumana El Husseini who passed last week. 

Palestine Remembered speaks with visiting Palestinian/American activist and civial rights advocate Huwaida Arraf.  She has been active on the ground in Palestine and around the world defending the rights of Palestinians and their advocates.  She was also the co-founder of the International Solidarity Movement in 2001

This week Palestine Remembered commemorates Land Day by recalling the events of 1976 as well as the “Great march of Return” and the brutal killing of 18 Palestinians, we also pay tribute to recently passed Palestinian artist Reem Banna and play the second part of Robert’s interview with Rev Dr Stephen Sizer.

Palestine Remembered discuss the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions Movement being nominated for the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize, a BDS win in the United States as well as the Extra-Judicial murder of Palestinians in Jenin and last up Yousef gives us details about his latest exciting project.

On today's episode of Palestine Remembered, the team reunite to discuss the third “International Day for Supporting the Rights of the Palestinian Citizens of Israel” and interview Noura a Palestinian citizen of Israel, living in Australia on her life growing up in Israel and the challenges a Palestinian faces living in “Democratic Israel”.

On today's episode of Palestine Remembered, first up, Nasser and Yousef discuss Mike Pence's (the US vice-president) visit to Israel, including his address to the Knesset.  They will also look at the defunding of the UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency) and its implications for Palestinians; and finally they will reflect on the Egyptian revolution, seven years on. 

Welcome back to our listeners for the first Palestine Remembered programme for 2018.  Last November, Robert Martin went to the home of Bassem Tamini and spoke to him about Nabi Saleh, the Ramallah village the Tamini family have long called home, a town that has for years been at the forefront of the resistance to the Israeli occupation of their land.

In the final programme for 2017, the Palestine Remembered hosts, Nasser, Robert and Yousef, discuss the major issues affecting Palestine during 2017. This will be the last programme for 2017, although Palestine Remembered will return to the 3CR airwaves in early 2018.
