We came up with some funny title for this episode in the course of the episode but now neither of us remembers it and I'm too lazy to go hunting through the episode to try to find it so I just decided on another one. Anyway, Autumn is back! But of course we aren't talking about movies so we just recorded an hour-plus of non-homophobia zone content, including catching up on what we've both been up...

By the time this episode hits this feed, you've probably already heard us talk about the SAG-AFTRA strike and their guidance for podcasters on our other shows, unless I suppose this is the only podcast of mine that you listen to. Anyway, in order to stand in solidarity with SAG-AFTRA during their strike, we have decided that Stairwells as a movie podcast will go on hiatus. Em joined Niamh to talk...

"I was taught that I should come to Chicago, become an independent woman. And my prince would come, and he would be a producer, and he would get me a podcast, and I would make my living waiting on tables. I would wait—'til 30, 'til 40, 'til 50. And I was taught that to be a podcaster, one should be fashionable, and to be fashionable is to be androgynous. And I am androgynous not less than Dav...

I didn't want you to get a fuckin' microphone, and I want you to return that motherfucker! And I want you to be fine just posting! Fifty-fuckin'-thousand people started podcasts last year 'cause of fuckin' assholes like y...

Lies! Lies and heresy. The Podcaster is a liar, and the spinner of lies. If the Podcaster's evidence is to be accepted, the most virtuous listeners are in the greatest of danger, for it against these that the Host rages most violently. I had never kept hidden the blueberry pavlova before the moment Autumn hit record, but the Podcaster has spoken, and to doubt their word is sacrilege. Next week we...

"Lately I've been filled with the knowledge that Ominous Stairwells will strike again. But because it is just a feeling, I am powerless to stop it. One more thing, Autumn. When the next episode happens, you will help me record it." Next week we will be back to talk about The Devils ! You can follow Niamh on twitter @FoxmomNia and listen to faer other podcasts, Ghost Divers, Pondering Poo...

"With podcasts? Is this way you wanna help your brethren?" _ "Sebastião also asked me this. I don't want to, I need to. I don't record podcasts for money. I record because I can't free myself of this misery."_ Here is the link to the essay Niamh mentioned: https://ojs.lib.umassd.edu/index.php/plcs/article/download/PLCS4_5_Bentes_page659/1156 As well as another one fae dug up: h...

"Try to remember. It's a very old story. Many podcasts ago, Nana was sad and melancholic, like this little bird trapped in its cage. But one day, from the strings of her guitar that sought only one true love, a voice spoke to her of lost kisses from the lips of Hachi. Hachi's lips trembled anxiously, and her mouth opened slightly like a fragrant flower—No, you're too young to remember! Forgiv...

Alright, microphones. Action! So they were recording after all, those microphones. Podcasts, which can be strangely merciful, had taken pity on Ornate Stairwells. The movies they had clung to so desperately had enfloded them. Mr. DeMille can I say a few words? I just want to say how happy I am to be back in the studio. You see podcasts are my life and it always will be, there's nothing else. Just...

CONTENT WARNING: When we get to the discussion of Skinamarink at the end of this episode, we talk in more detail than usual about things like child abuse and self-harm. Normally I take some quote from the movie and make it about podcasting or whatever, but not a lot is really said in Skinamarink . So I guess I'll just say that Autumn and I emphatically did not go to sleep and in fact stayed up and...
