085 | Taking Stock with Jordan Grumet 27.07.2022 40:52
Welcome back to another episode of Ordinary Sherpa, I am your host Heidi Dusek. This summer has been a fascinating journey in continuing to live out and test our adventurous lifestyle with kids. We spent over 30 days living in an RV in The Canadian Rockies near Banff, Jasper and then made our way down into Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming before some time in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Our purp...
084 | (Best of) Redefining Adventures Near and Far with Ed Tee 20.07.2022 30:58
This episode, Ed takes adventure to the next level with ways to experience adventure near and far. Ed is a husband and father originally from Singapore now in Washington. Prior to Covid he was a sophisticated travel hacker, but now more of an aspiring polyglot. Others might also say he's a tax optimizer, a geo-arbitrage schemer, homeschooler, entrepreneur, and just adding a budding asian cuisi...
083 | Eating the Landscape with Tony Slabaugh 13.07.2022 45:10
As I've mentioned in the past adventure looks different for everyone and using the simple definition of a new or different slightly risky experience still drives home this theme week after week. On this episode we'll be talking about edible landscapes, or in some terms foraging. For some reason when I think of this concept I am reminded of two things. One being my brown thumb capabilities. G...

080 | (Best of) The Magic of Micro-Experiences 22.06.2022 26:21
Adventure can feel overwhelming if we don't make it simple. This episode is dedicated to give you some tools and tips to make it simple and action-oriented. When I say simple, I am always thinking through the lens of "what can I do tomorrow?" Magic is when things are not as they seem. 076 | Grounding Practice of Adventure 25.05.2022 32:21
I crossed the 200 hours outside for 2022 last week. I am beginning to notice how much we can do outside, sometimes just sitting outside and reading is even a great refresher from life. We will be camping this weekend as we do every memorial day weekend to kick off summer, so I'm finding it easier to get my hours in now that we have been practicing getting hours outside, and the nicer weather cer...
075 | Creating Community through Writing with Kent Sanders 18.05.2022 52:50
As you may or may not know, yesterday I became a published author. On May 17th Beyond Normal: a field guide to embrace adventure, explore the wilderness, and design an extraordinary life with kids was publicly available. While it is easy to think this is a summit experience, and I certainly am taking time to celebrate this accomplishment, I also know this is the beginning of a journey. Publishing...
074 | The Making of Beyond Normal (book release) with Author, Heidi Dusek 11.05.2022 30:48
It's May (when I am recording this episode) which might mean many things. For us it means cramming in our school and spring kid activities, it means busting out the camping gear and preparing for the kickoff to summer, it means many more hours outside it also means budding blooms (ie pollen), and bugs emerge from who knows where. For me it also means publishing my first book. Beyond Normal: A f...
073 | Recovery + Outdoors with Emily Holland 04.05.2022 44:19
I am coming down from an intense and yet completely fulfilling weekend at Travel Con. It was my first conference for travel based creators and all I can say is it was nourishing for my soul. The 80 degree weather and Memphis gems added to my delight as well. The keynote from Pico Iyer was truly the most prophetic thing I have ever heard. But others such as break outs on monetizing a travel web...
