You’ve probably heard someone say that couples who stay together for many years start to look like each other. The idea is that, the more time you spend with someone, the more you begin to resemble them. Shouldn’t this apply to our relationship with Jesus? When people look at you, do they see someone who resembles our Lord?

The resurrected Jesus appears to His disciples. He talks with them, He eats with them, He commissions them. Then it’s time for Him to leave the stage. And how does He do it? As we would expect, in dramatic fashion.

There is no way of getting around the fact that we have all failed. There’s also no denying that failure doesn’t have to be fatal. Failure is an event, not a destiny. Far too many Christians are living a less-than-fulfilling spiritual existence because they are hindered by failure.

We often think of fellowship as a means to an end. We get together so that we can accomplish something. We eat, we meet, we discuss, we play, we have fellowship so that we can reach some great goal or purpose. But fellowship is not a means to an end. Fellowship is the end. It is the goal.

Is the life you’re currently living going to get you to heaven? Would you change anything on your schedule if you knew that this was your last day on earth?

Following Jesus will interfere your life. It will cost you something. Religion can only take you so far. It cannot exist without relationship, which is what Jesus was calling us to.

Jesus is a difference-maker. He gives our team all the confidence we need to win the spiritual battle. And, He allows us to have complete confidence in the face of death. Why? Because He has guaranteed victory. Our fearless leader has already won.

The engine of our spiritual growth is a combination of a humbly submitted heart and a biblically formed mind. We’ll explore what the Bible has to say about these two important qualities and how we can grow in them.

What does the work of our lives tell us about the things we pursue? The words of Jesus ring ever true today, “Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life.”

There is potential power in three little words: Come and see. A simple invitation can be the springboard to a changed existence.
