Occulture Shock Podcast

Sure, we cover weird history but what weird stuff is happening NOW!? Hey Seekers! For the last year and a half of this podcast, we've been focusing on what has happened within the world of the paranormal and not so much of what is happening within the woprld of the paranormal. Is anyone still experimenting with out-of-body experiences anymore and, if so, where and how? You're in luck! Apparently,...

Hello Seekers! Continuing on this week with products produced by the dead - we're tuning into the stranger side of technological history. From to the Spiricom Mark IV (a machine whose creators claimed allowed them to hold conversations with the dead) to California's famous Integratron (now additionally protected by the Huntington Library and Museum) , and everything else in-between; we're looking...

Hello Seekers! In the 1850s, former Universalist minister and radical social reformer John Murray Spear claimed he was recieving instructions from a group of dead scientists, inventors and poli8tical thinkers known as "The Association of Electrizers." Their grand plan? To spiritually "birth" a half-man / half-machine capable of drawing life from the Uniuverse itself tio help humanity twoards a Uto...

Hello Seekers! Today's episode takes us back (briefly) into the CIA's STARGATE files—but this time, it ratchets up the weird! Meet Rosemary Brown, a British housewife who claimed that dead composers like Beethoven, Chopin and Franz Liszt were visiting her and dictating brand-new music from beyond the grave. Enjoy the episiode and thanks for getting weird with us!

Hello Seekers! In the grand finale of our three part series, we dive into the conclusion of the U.S. government's remote viewing experiment known as STARGATE. The program, which spanned over two decades and cost millions of dollars was finally evaluated by the CIA in 1995 - The question on everyon's mind: Was any of it useful for actual intelligence purposes? And ho9w the heck does The Monroe Inst...

There is so so soooo much more than the big gothic cathedral outside the train station! Hey Seekers! I've been at Gamescom this past week, hence the delayed release for this week's episode (but better late than never is what I always say). It actually kind of worked out because: My planned interview with Seamus Blackley has been pushed to later on in September It gave me the chance to do some deep...

Hello Seekers! Welcome back to part two of our three part series: The Psychic Cold War! What had started as a story about fake military telepathy claims has quickly turned into one of the weirdest intelligence experiments in modern history. Fast forward to 1972, the U.S. has arrived at the Stanford Research Institute in Menlo Park, California; a place known for advanced physics, defense contracts...

Seekers! This one is going to be a DOOZY!  Welcome to part 1 of 3 episode mini-series all about the CIA's Project Stargate and Project Gateway and all because of one question I've never really heard annyoe ask in a simple way: Who started it? Thanks for getting weird with us and buckle up!

Hello Seekers! I have basically made this week's episode entierly with my phone, so apologies that the sound is a bit off this week but I didn't want to have to push the podcast again, so we are trying this technique out. While not ideal...it's not half bad! I hope you find this week's story of an obscure occult mail order musician/magician as intriguing as I did when I stumbled across his work. W...

Hello Seekers! Welcome back to the 3rd installment of our ongoing Occult Objects: Where Are They Now? mini-series! When we talk about the history of the occult, we're almost always talking about the people: charismatic cult leaders, philosophers, and (of course) Aliester Crowley. But everyone eventually passes on and, when that happens, the real physical anchors left behind are the objects: person...

Hey there Seekers!   It's been a crazy week, so apologies for being a few days late - However, I'm feeling pretty good since I technically managed to get this episode in before the start of the weekend! (I take my small victories where I can get them). This is episode 2 in a series I've started up called: Occult Objects - Where Are They Now? And so far - it has been a blast - I'm hoping we can get...

Hello Seekers! Ooooooohhhhmmmaaaaannnn! Today's a good one! On multiple levels! Some of you know, some of you don't but I've been living in the Netherlands for the past four years. It's a beautiful country and I enjoy it very much however, one of the tougher adjustments that I've had to make is that I've had a tough time finding the more "mysterious and weird" aspect of the Netherlands. The occult...

Hello Seekers! We are in a MASSIVE heatwave out in Europe right now - so much so that everythig is closed due to the heat and my computer's fan sounds like a commercial airplane trying to take off. Everything is melting, so I thought a good way to keep up the pace is to debut our first ever OSP (technically, Bizarre States Ressurected) re-run!  For those that haven't listened to my old Bizaare Sta...

Hello Seekers! First off, two things: 1.) I am so so sorry for the quality of my voice in this episode. I got hit with a MASSIVE cold that wiped me out for about two weeks (including during the entierty of my vacation), and I'm just not bubbling back up to the surface. My apologies that I sound all snotty and sniffly. 2.) What do Virginia Woolf, Aleister Crowley, W.B. Yeats, Peter Warlock, a myste...

Hello Seekers! We've got a compilation podcast today which I think does a pretty decent job of covering some intriguing occult, esoteric and borderline paranormal topics, as well as, talking about some occultists/mystics and scientists that you may not have even known were occultists/ mystics and scientists. (sometimes you just have to go beyond the steretypical, and well-beaten path of the SEO an...

For this OSP episode we have a special guest joining us for an interview this week - Alfie Prendergast, the owner of Fool's Journey Books ! Hello Seekers! IMPORTANT - DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS PODCAST IF YOU DON'T WANT WIDOW'S BAY, SEASON 1 - Ep. 1-4 SPOILED!!!!!!! If you are anything like me, you have been obsessed with Apple TV's latest show, Widow's Bay (it's so damn good. Total early X-files vibes kinda' sorta') Combination 1980s horror flick + every IP Stephen King has ever come up with + The Office? = my eyeball entertainment loyalt...

Hello Seekers! Today's topic is in honor of the recent U.S. UFO document(s) release which, once again, says everything without saying ANYTHING. Considering it is one of the largest UFO/UAP cases in history - and involved the U.S. military personnel - why haven't all of these disclosed UFO docs never really seem to touch. this particular case? Also, nwhat else is going on in that section of England...

Hello Seekers! Here in the Netherlands we just celebrated Liberation Day (when the Allies came and freed the Dutch from German occupation during WWII) and because of that, my mind started wandering about what weird WWII history would make sense for this show... Enter the conspiracy surrounding Hitler's right-hand man, Rudolf Hess. Enjoy the show and thanks for getting weird with us!

Hello Seekers!   Oh man, I'm pretty fired up about this one (mostly because I feel I actually was there for a little bit of these Gardnerian, mysterious England vibes while I was visiting the King Arthur hot spots throughout the english countryside. Don't worry 0 I ramble on about all of it in today's intro - which you are free to skip if you can't deal with my double dose of word salad this week)...

Hello Seekers! I have been inspired a lot lately by the 1960 & 70 occult paperback books that are finding their way into my collection. So I thought I would dedicate an episode to them :)   Before WitchTok or Occult Tok or paranormal YoutTube, there was the "paperback occult boom." In the 60s & 70s cheap, mass- market books on witchcraft, Satanisim, psychic powers, UFOs, hautings and ceremoial mag...

Hello Seekers! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday break! So, I feel into a pretty deep archeological internet hole the other day around 2 am and this is what I came up with: Today's episode of Occulture Shock goes deep into one of the strangest gaps in ancient Egyptian history: the disappearance of the Benben stone. This artifact was once the most sacred physical object in ancient Egypt And th...

Hello Seekers, In the 1970s and 80s, spiritual leader (and talking head on In Search Of w/ Leonard Nimoy - one of the best TV shows of all time), Elizabeth Clare Prophet built a movement around the idea that sge was receiving messages from enlightened beings known as Ascended Masters. At the center of those teachings was one of the most mysterious figures in occult history - The Count of Saint Ger...
