Mercy is a deeply introspective story about a man on the verge of suicide. Anita and her guest, Sara, explore the thoughts and events that lead the protagonist, Gary, to the edge of a cliff, literally in the northern wilderness.

In this true narrative, Anita and her friend, Corinne, share their experience apartment hunting followed by a scary but memorable return trip home driving along Highway 401. After being almost run off the road it is a group of truckers who help them and teach a couple of dangerous drivers an unforgettable lesson.

This story captures the social nuances of high school life with its cliques and drama. The narrator recalls a poignant moment in this small-town school when a beautiful and vibrant newcomer befriends a sickly, unpopular boy. As years pass, for the narrator, both as observer and participant in the tale, the need for redemption becomes ever more apparent.

Anita goes it alone for the first short narrative in Season Two of Not Just Any Other Story. It is fitting for a piece called, "Alone, Alone at Last". This finale episode brings us to the conclusion of The Shopping Cart People with chapters 45 and 46. Anita and her sister, Lisa, and nieces, Tara, Remy, Jillian and Stephanie all share relatable moments and insights related to the book accompanied by much laughter.

Anita and Corinne, who is visiting all the way from New York, read the “Lucas” chapters. Spending time with Dr. Lucas at the conference provides Angel with some hope for her future. Do her feelings for Les overshadow the ease with which her relationship with Lucas progresses?

Anita goes solo this episode for chapters 30-33 sharing her own insights into the writing of these particular chapters. Angel gets back to reality and reconnects with family and friends. Her resolve finally reaches its peak as she attempts to, finally, deal with the pressing issue at-hand of telling Les about Harry.

In Episode 10 Anita and guest, Debbie, read and discuss chapters 27-29. As Angel’s trip to Italy draws to a close there are some more surprises that await her back home. A mixture of delightful and awkward moments bring Angel’s dilemma to the forefront.

Anita and her guests, Jean and Pam, read chapters 23-26 and we learn that Angel isn’t the only one hiding something as her trip to Italy begins to unravel some secrets to her. You will truly appreciate the beauty of Italy as Angel goes on her own adventure which is followed by the quintessential Italian cuisine and a salute that brings cultures and people together.

Episode 8 includes “The Italy chapters”. Anita and guest, Katherine, discuss the interesting dynamics of the relationship between the two sisters and also between Tilly and her love interests. These along with descriptions of the Italian countryside and culture make up those delicious “moments of perfect”. In Episode Seven, Anita welcomes yet another Cindy for Chapters 17, 18 & 19. Angel is truly feeling the pressure of sharing her secret with Les which is immediately forgotten with the kiss that could launch a thousand Angels. Angel also arrives in Italy and it is a sweet reunion between sisters.

Episode Six is a party with Anita and her three guests, Doris, Louise and Giulia who have great fun reading and talking about what happens in chapters 14, 15 & 16. In Episode Five Anita welcomes another Cindy to read chapters 11, 12 & 13 in which Angel prepares for her trip to Italy and also for her date with Les. Angel’s tendency to be a klutz comes to the forefront in this hilarious and yet romantic part of the story.

In Episode Four, Anita and guest, Claire, have a lot of fun with reading chapters 8, 9 & 10. Angel’s second surprise encounter with Les has some great comedic moments and there is no denying the attraction between the two characters. Claire also does a great job of capturing the essence of Angel’s mother and her Italian background.

In Episode Three Anita and her guest, Giulia, explore chapters 6 & 7 of The Shopping Cart People in which listeners get to know Angel’s son and colleagues a little more. The discussions that follow each chapter delve into the complexities of family relationships with insights and personal stories shared by both the author and her guest.
