While the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave provides all believers the hope of eternal life, it is important to realize the resurrection also provides hope for life here and now. Where there is fear, where there is sorrow, where there is exhaustion without promise of relief...where there is life...we need hope. As believers, we can live now with hope because of what the resurrection mean...

A favorite expression for describing someone who is upset is they are “bent out of shape.” In the passage of scripture today we are going to look at two people who were bent out of shape; one was a woman who was physically bent out of shape and the other was a religious man who was spiritually bent out of shape.

There is an instinct each of us has to place great value on an item simply because it is lost. Whether it is your wallet, car keys, glasses, or homework, lost things are never so precious to you as when you can’t find them. God places great value on people and has gone to great lengths to make it possible for those who are lost to be found.

God has a remedy for the guilt and shame we feel about the hidden places in our hearts…GRACE. God knows that to deal with the “coverings” we use will never answer the deep needs of our hearts. How far will God go to give you the grace you need?

We labor so intensely to do good works, to sing great songs of praise, to present powerful messages of hope and salvation, to study His Word, to faithfully come to worship. What is missing that is so important? The answer? Faith, hope, and love. Faith, hope, and love are imparted to our lives through the grace of God.

There is possibly no other word with more definitions and ideas surrounding it than the word “love.” Remember, this is the "more excellent way", meaning where it can be applied, we can know benefit and blessing beyond any other response.

The Apostle Paul states in Ephesians 2 that we are all dead at one point, spiritually blind; then through Christ we are made alive and given sight. But just like learning to walk, we have to learn to see. When you learn to see, and live like one who can see, it sets an example for others around you. This is what takes you from a casual Christian to a dangerous disciple.

David is in trouble again. It seems much of his life he was on the run. This psalm was written at a very low point in David’s life. He is a cave dweller seeking the attention of God to his problem. What do we do when it seems heaven is silent to our cries for help? This is a common question and a difficult place for any believer. Can we learn to wait on the Lord when our world is falling apart?

Today we affirm our belief that human life is of inestimable worth and significance in all its dimensions, including the unborn, the aged, the widowed, the mentally handicapped, the unattractive, the physically challenged and every other condition in which humanness is expressed from conception to the grave. We believe life is sacred.

We do not have much control over how and when difficult situations enter our lives, but we do have the ability to control how we respond to them when they do. Bitter situations do not have to stay that way. To the believer, these situations become an opportunity to evaluate our faith and an invitation for the presence of God to transform our lives.

Our lives are plagued by the small part of the body which caused the fall of man - the tongue. Do you want to show your spirituality? James calls you to prove it by your ability to bridle your tongue.

God’s people were right on the edge of the Promised Land. They had been here before and a generation had passed. What would make this time different than the last?
