Phenotype(disquiet0483) 03.04.2021 3:24
I recorded myself typing on my works computer, transcribing a commentary of what i was doing and thinking at the time. I then fed this into Gleetchlab and routed and mangled the loop as well as running it through the TAMS physical modeller to make the resonant clangs. On reflection it looks like I'm an angry typist, my keyboard sounds bruised. More on this 483rd weekly Disquiet Junto project — Typ...
A Good Friday 02.04.2021 11:15
I left my Tascam recorder out by a solar powered water pump and it captured the sound of the water, birds, traffic and towards the end; the clank of the pump as it struggled to spout water

It’s My Home 14.03.2021 6:48
I took a Soma Ether and scanned the em fields of my modem, server, gas boiler and light fittings. The output was then fed through Beads, Clouds and Wires .
Tune In Tune Out (disquiet0479) 07.03.2021 3:42
As per instructions I took a recording of a car driving past, rain on cobblestones and me live scanning a FM radio band on my field kit. I screwed around with the playback speed of the samples and fed parts of the audio into Rings and Beads. I had a relaxing jam in the conservatory watching birds flit across the bird feeders and feeling the sub bass rattle of a bus speeding down the main road. Mor...
Radio Covid (disquiet0478) 27.02.2021 2:56
My audio collage was made by setting up two radio music modules, one playing banks of unfinished tracks I'd done and another filled with audio recorded from public radio. I also set up the radio receiver on a Koma Field Kit to live scan an FM band, whilst the sources were triggered and scrubbed by a complex rats' nest of clock synced LFOs. I can't really call it a composition as it was me simply s...

Suffering from insomnia I spent the wee hours fiddling with a couple of Hainbach apps, Fundamental and Gauss and this is what happened.

Once Was Blind (disquiet0477) 21.02.2021 3:27
I sat in the dark with my eyes closed whilst stroking the touch plate of my Plinky synth with the output unmonitored. The audio, pitch and touch output were sent into a migraine inducing spaghetti nest of switches, dividers, envelopes and switch registers ttiggering randomly assigned voice outputs. I ran the resulting audio file into delay and reverb to smooth out some of the jarring modulations a...

ICES(disquiet0471) 10.01.2021 6:53
I been doing these New Year Ice challenges for a few years and I suppose each year is a snapshot of whatever I was using at the time. This year, what with the Covid buggeration, meant I spent a lot of time building diy synths and modules. I most recently built a Plinky synth, a simply lovely polyphonic digital synth and sampler. I fed it the original loop I used for the challenge in 2013 and used...

Recording Field (disquiet0466) 06.12.2020 3:26
I couldn’t record the sound of my city as my local lockdown rules are discouraging non essential time out of the house except for exercise and work. Inested I too my Soma Ether out with me when I took my dog for his evening walk. The Ether picked up the buzzes of lamppost, Christmas illuminations, junction boxes and phone masts. I loaded the samples onto an iPad, treated them with fx and looped cl...
Mangomanbaby (disquiet0462) 06.11.2020 6:20
I used three apps on the iPad, Fractal Bits, Bram Bos's Rhythm and SloMoFx. I created a mutating beat at 118bpm and fed it through SloMoFx to slow the output periodically. The results were then bounced and halved in speed, fed through another instance of SloMoFx and so on and so on until the beat was a glitchy boomy sludge. Whilst all that was going on I was feeding a sample of some revival preach...
Fear Of What's To Come (disquiet0460) 24.10.2020 4:56
I like recording short snatches of radio from my Fieldkit and I used one for this week's project. The brief asked for a tortured sound so I performed a variety of mashing, slowing and speeding up, saturating and reverbing until the string sample became a dirty wall of noise. The track starts with the end result and then morphs into the original sample. The audio degradation then proceeds in the or...

Fraser Eraser (disquiet0458) 09.10.2020 2:52
For this week's project I used 3 sound sources, Ultrabeat, a Koma Fieldkit picking up a classical radio station and a pluck module with it's pitch and decay controlled by rapid cycling LFOs, both which were sent into Monsoon for glitchiness and reverb. I followed the brief by periodically changing, muting or rerouting the FX chain for two of the tracks and keeping one remainder from the previous o...
