Playing around with the Kickbox patch on the Magus desktop synth

I recorded myself typing on my works computer, transcribing a commentary of what i was doing and thinking at the time. I then fed this into Gleetchlab and routed and mangled the loop as well as running it through the TAMS physical modeller to make the resonant clangs. I left my Tascam recorder out by a solar powered water pump and it captured the sound of the water, birds, traffic and towards the end; the clank of the pump as it struggled to spout water

I took a Soma Ether and scanned the em fields of my modem, server, gas boiler and light fittings. The output was then fed through Beads, Clouds and Wires .

As per instructions I took a recording of a car driving past, rain on cobblestones and me live scanning a FM radio band on my field kit. Built a Plinky Synth kit over Christmas, this is my first go at using is as a sampler and controller.

I couldn’t record the sound of my city as my local lockdown rules are discouraging non essential time out of the house except for exercise and work. I used three apps on the iPad, Fractal Bits, Bram Bos's Rhythm and SloMoFx. I created a mutating beat at 118bpm and fed it through SloMoFx to slow the output periodically. The results were then bounced and halved in speed, fed through another instance of SloMoFx and so on and so on until the beat was a glitchy boomy sludge. The brief asked for a tortured sound so I performed a variety of mashing, slowing and speeding up, saturating and reverbing until the string sample became a dirty wall of noise.
