No Cap with Britt

Society EN ↓ 24 episodes

Hi everyone, my name is Britt. I'm a visual artist living and working in Oakland. A big part of my life is sobriety, and what life looks like as a result. A quick explanation of the title: "No Cap" means "no B.S." Personally, I can get impatient with small talk. Sobriety demands rigorous honesty, and I really value that in myself and others. I want to KNOW people. So, the purpose of this podcast is to shine a light on my immediate community (Bay Area) and talk about things that matter to them, and what shaped them as individuals. There's also an interactive element called "Ask it Basket".

Josefin Lundahl 22.05.2026

Josefin is an Art Historian, Curator, and Creative Producer here in SF. This episode is full of advice for artists, so if you're a creative, don't skip it. I made up a word, "famiosity," you are welcome to make it a thing:) We discuss influence & originality and "life experience as education.&qu...

Suki Jones 03.12.2025

A terrifically honest and open interview with Suki about her addiction memoir, "Sea, Swallow Me." I read it in 24 hours, and I found it to be a wonderful encapsulation of what addiction is like and what comes after. We laugh hysterically over how we CANNOT stop ourselves from telling random people we are sober (BevMo hates to see us coming), how music anchors us in time, how we absolutely wear out...

Halloween Special With Amol & KT 21.10.2025

We went into this Halloween Horror Movie Special with a list of five horror movies curated by a friend of No Cap, Matty Clark. We all watched Barbarian, Terrified, Bring Her Back, Dead Alive and Black Christmas (1974.) We have no qualifications to critique movies, other than a shared love of horror. I think there's more laughing on this epidsode than ever before- we found out which horror movi...

Erik Otto 24.02.2025

Our super busy bi coastal friend dropped in for a casual two hour chat:) I've been a longtime fan of Erik's work, and because SF is six degrees of separation I ended up subleasing his longtime Mission studio when he moved to NYC. That era has ended, but luckily a friendship was born, and it was nice to pick his brain about his success, his business acumen, how he got started, and the most...

Nico 06.09.2024

The illustrious Nico has finally graced my halls! I would ride into hell and back for Nico, and I am so happy to get an opportunity for y'all to know and love her too. We covered a lot of ground in this episode- as always, THE BAY, the arts scene, how Nico got her start, breakfast sandos, feelings charts, "McSobers" (which I will be devastated I didn't get to drink at for the res...

Amanda Lynn & Lady Mags 06.08.2024

This dynamic duo found time in their busy schedules to come have a delightful, and honestly, too short of a conversation for yours truly. They tell us all about their collaborative project "The Get Up," their goals, how much we all love SF, how they began painting, their matching tattoos, and we also unearth a secret desire from Amanda Lynn. Don't miss this episode!!!

Brandon Jospeh Baker 29.05.2024

There was no plan going into this one, and none was needed. BJB and I met in 2020 but it seems like forever already. We chat about poop, white skittles, art, the fact that he's actively being held captive at my house, what he's bringing for Open Studios, and so much more. Enjoy, it's got a college humor vibe:)

Rachel Znerold 18.04.2024

The indubitable Rachel Z has been one of my longest friends, from wayyyy back to little baby Britt in Boulder times. We also chat about early fashion designer days and how I walk...

Jet and I sit down before his first solo show in 5 years- "The Language of Flowers," opening April 6 at Heron Arts. Jet hails from Mexico, grew up in Colorado, and has been in the Bay since the late 90's. He's a Bay Area legend and has work all over the United States as well as abroad. He's also incredibly chill and has a work ethic to beat the band. I've been looking up...

John Wentz 11.03.2024

Welp this one is a doozy! I host Bay Area Native John Wentz- accomplished fine artist and raconteur. I posit many opinions, all of which are founded in no facts whatsoever, as per the usual. We talk papier mache aliens, grief, stinky cheese, and wanderlust. It's a small miracle I got him to come sit, we are pals and that's evident in our convo. I'm glad you get to spend a little time w...

Episode 13: Lambtown 42 29.12.2023

My internet friend Lambtown 42 flew to SF from Portland to come be my final 2023 episode. We became friends as two fellow street artists, and bonded over the fact that we are both also in recovery. So much laughter in this episode: we talk about best concerts,4-H Club, the Uprising, stencil how-tos, and why Lambtown is cooler than me. I feel honored to have gotten to spend some QT time with my Por...

We talk about her growing up in an art home, her punk rock roots, and the trials, tribulations, and joy of owning a brick and mortar gallery in the most expensive city in the US. We had a bunch of answered questions from my interactive aspect- "Ask It Basket," which if you listen, you know I beg pe...

We have a marvelous and spooky time commiserating over living for a long time in Colorado, how the Bay lured us in, LOVE, tooth trauma, and owning a gallery. We give CO a hard time, but it's all in good fun. As per the usual, I had a couple technical challenges- well- it was simply someone using a leaf blower next door:)Thank you for listening, I've been enjoying sharing my world with you!

I sit with Bolivian artist "Pablito Something"- and this is an episode not to miss. His practice and ethos are unmatched.
