SERVE One Another 05.10.2020

In our "One anothering" series we see Jesus himself set the example, serving his disciples in a humbling and even menial way. Than lays it out clearly by saying "I'm setting the example for you. I want you to serve others the way I've modeled it for you here". And that all sounds well and good but the real test of a servant is when someone actually treats you like one.

ADMONISH One Another 27.09.2020

Truly "One-anothering" in love means a lot more than "being nice" or keeping the peace at all costs. Real love has to speak truth sometimes. Real love needs to instruct or teach or admonish. It isn't easy, but if it's done in the right spirit, with the right motive, using the right method, you will truly be "one-anothering" each other.

LOVE one another 20.09.2020

The first (and granddaddy) of all the "one-anothers". LOVE One Another. Easy in theory. A little harder in the concrete.

One Another-ing (Series Intro) 13.09.2020

People are made for relationships. It’s the byproduct of being created in the image of a Triune God who is in relationship. 59 times in the New Testament we are given specific, applicable instruction on how to “one-another” each other… “Love one another… serve one another… honor one another…” When you become a follower of Jesus, God puts you as one of his children in a relationship with other “bro...

Is This The End? (part 2) 24.08.2020

The Mark of the Beast? Revelation? The Apocolypse? The very own prophetic words of Jesus? A certain book series I wish would get "left behind" and... "Please don't take my Antichrist from me" The likely unpopular conclusion to our two part eschatology teaching.

Is This The End? (part 1) 17.08.2020

The Apocalypse? The Antichrist? The "Mark of the Beast"? The Book of Revelation? "End of Days"? The Rapture? Does Covid-19 fit into all of this? (And why a popular end times book series should probably just be... "Left Behind")

People of Issachar 09.08.2020

There's a curious, even obscure verse in the Old Testament about a group of men (and women) from the tribe of Issachar who "knew the signs of the times and the best course to take". That's a verse for our generation isn't it. A verse for this specific time of COVID. How we need wise men and women of God who know the signs of the times AND the best course of action to take.

HOW to hear from God. An interview with Keith Gonyou 03.08.2020

In this special teaching segment, I put my Dad on the spot (literally... no warning... no prep) and have a conversation about the HOW'S of hearing from God. What kinds of habits and actions should a believer incorporate into their life to better hear the "voice of the Shepherd". Keith Gonyou is someone with years of ministry experience, but more importantly, one who has a vital and daily reciproca...

July 19th Sermon Audio - "The Shock Doctrine" 19.07.2020

A shock to the culture.. or a crisis can sometimes allow for people with a political or social agenda to swoop in amidst the chaos and implement change - Sometimes good change, sometimes not so good. In the same way, this crisis or "shock" called COVID feels like it could fundamentally change us, the question is will we allow God to reveal the hard truths of our character to conform closer to the...

July 12, 2020: Can you hear me now? (Part 7-Jesus in the Storm) - Sermon Audio 12.07.2020

A part of our "Can You Hear Me Now?" series. Where is Jesus in the storms of life? https://newmarketalliance.ca/

July 5, 2020: Can you hear me now? (Part 6-Why me, why this, why now? part 2) - Sermon Audio 05.07.2020

In our CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW series we continue to explore what God might be saying even through some of the most painful moments of our lives. Maybe some of you are going through it right now.

June 28, 2020: Can you hear me now? (Part 5-Why me, why now, why this - part 1) - Sermon Audio 28.06.2020

In this series we've been asking what God might be wanting to say to us during one of the most difficult seasons in our lifetime. Today we make it very personal. For those of you going through financial crisis, health issues, loss of loved ones, career crisis, severe loneliness, depression or hopelessness, you may be asking three questions of God. Why me? Why this? Why now? While we may not have f...

June 21, 2020: Can You Hear Me Now? (part 4 - Relationships) - Sermon Audio 22.06.2020

The Covid Crisis has also been a crisis of RELATIONSHIPS for many people these days. Families, marriages, parents, co-workers and neighbours. It's a social distancing season that subtly makes us look at the "stranger" as an enemy... the exact opposite of what our Lord taught us.

June 14, 2020: Can You Hear Me Now (Part 3: finances)-Sermon Audio 15.06.2020

Part 3 of our series "Can You Hear Me Now?" In the midst of what might be the biggest economic downturn of our generation, could it be that God is saying something profound ... or perhaps reminding us of something he's been saying for a while now regarding our finances. Did you know Jesus said more about finances than he did about Heaven or Hell combined?

June 7, 2020: Can You Hear Me Now? (Part 2 Racial Reconciliation)-Sermon Audio 07.06.2020

Racial Reconciliation What is God saying these days as the world is in chaos? Does He have something to challenge us on regarding discrimination, injustice, race...? A difficult topic to be sure. I'd ask you not tune it out though. Recommended Resources on Racial Reconciliation is found at www.newmarketalliance.ca/blog

Love Lockdown part 4: Endure 24.05.2020

In our last part of the LOVE LOCKDOWN series (marriage in the time of Coronavirus) Kris and Mike tag-time the teaching (fittingly) and discuss the crucial role of true partnership and ENDURING even when things get very tough.

Love Lockdown (part 3) "Fight Fair" 18.05.2020

EVERY couple fights but healthy couples FIGHT FAIR! Special thanks to Kelly Garbe providing the female (and vocational) perspective.

Love Lockdown part 2: PURSUIT 10.05.2020

We tend to pursue what we don't have. That's why unfortunately so often when we "have" a spouse we stop the practice of "pursuing" them and yet we all know HOW to do it... we did it while we dated after all. The relational discipline of pursuit actually points to a God who pursues US... "chases me down, fights 'till I'm found, leaves the 99"

Love Lockdown part 1: Priority! 03.05.2020

Covid Divorce? Corona babies? Cabin fever? More than perhaps anytime in recent history, marriages are feeling the tension. This extended time together is like a pressure cooker. The pressure will either produce diamonds or break relationships entirely. Because God created marriage and loves marriages and longs for them to succeed, He actually has some wisdom from His Word FOR marriages and it begi...

Who Do You Think You Are? (part 12) I AM... VICTORIOUS 26.04.2020

The final message in this series and it's a doozy as Paul reminds us we are in a battle - not against humans - but against darkness and powers and principalities in an UNSEEN world. Too many Christians don't even KNOW they're in a battle but for those of us who do, you need to know your enemy, your King and the weapons at your disposal

Who do you think you are? (part 11) "I AM... VALUED" 19.04.2020

We are on the home stretch in our study of Ephesians. In Chapter 6, Pastor Glenn unpacks God's Fatherly relationship with us and how it ought to inform how we parent (not to mention how we treat our employers and employees)

Who Do You Think You Are? (part 10) "I AM... WISE" 05.04.2020

In our study of the letter to the Ephesians, it just seems to get more and more applicable as we navigate these crazy days of a pandemic. Paul says "So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days." Do you think these days could be called "evil"? Ya. Do you think there are people acting particularly foolish these...

Who Do You Think You Are (part 9) "I AM... ADOPTED" 29.03.2020

Too often we live like fatherless orphans, not sure where our next meal is coming from and insecure if we are truly loved when God the Father has in fact chosen us and adopted us into his family. Instead of calling us "Sons and daughters of disobedience and wrath", he calls us His "children of light" and if we REALLY understood that as our identity, it might just change everything.

Who Do You Think You Are? (part 8) "I AM... FORGIVEN" 22.03.2020

On this (virtual) communion Sunday we are reminded that bitterness is a trap, that hurt people hurt people but that FORGIVEN people forgive!

Who Do You Think You Are? (part 7) "I AM... CALLED" 15.03.2020

In our first live-streaming service since the new reality of life in the age of coronavirus, Pastor Kris has an incredibly timely message about what it means to really "Be the Church" (hint: It has less and less to do with coming to a church service)
