Getting impatient with God is never a good thing. Abraham and Sarah will learn this first hand in Genesis 16 of just how devastating it can be when the “Cart gets before the horse!” From their shortsightedness, we learn a valuable truth today about waiting for God‘s perfect timing—and that is, God‘s timing is always better than ours.

Promises are a big deal! When God makes a promise, He keeps it! Believing what God says forms your faith and is foundational in you being found righteous in God‘s eyes. In Genesis chapter 15 God will remind Abraham of his great promise. On top of that, he promises to be Abraham’s protector and provider. Incredible promises for us today as well.

Nobody likes family drama! Not you, not anybody. We learn from Genesis 13 that not even some of our greatest biblical heroes could avoid family drama. Such is the case between Abraham and his nephew Lot. Abraham takes the lead and chooses to be a peacemaker. In doing so, provides us a wonderful example to follow today.

In Genesis chapter 12, God’s endgame starts to become clear. God would work through Abraham and his descendants to bring about the Jewish nation, the Bible, and ultimately the savior of the world, Jesus. God has always had a plan that involved redemption, blessing, and eternity with his creation. Through Abraham, all peoples on earth will be blessed.
