The Lord Jesus Christ spoke about a vine and its branches as a picture of the spiritual union that exists between Christ and His church. From the new birth to our growth in grace, from the fruit of faith to drinking the new wine in the kingdom of heaven the Lord Jesus Christ is the true and only source of all spiritual life in a believer.

Our Lord Jesus Christ tells us 'I Am The Good Shepherd'. He also tells us He came into the world as the Good Shepherd to lay down His life for the sheep. The Lord Jesus Christ is the door of access to God and into all the blessings of God, spiritual and temporal. He is the door of the sheep who are the people of God chosen and called from the foundation of the world.

The Apostle Paul was persuaded that all who trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for eternal life are safe and secure from all our enemies. That trust is founded upon God's revelation in His word, the preaching of the Apostles and the testimony of the Lord Jesus. God has spoken and we are persuaded.

The Lord Jesus Christ concludes His high-priestly prayer by claiming four privileges for His people. That we be with Him, that we behold His glory, that we know the love of God & that Christ dwell in us. These privileges are ours by the will of Christ our Saviour.

Our Lord Jesus Christ enlarged the objects of His high-priestly prayer to include us, all who would believe on Him by the ministry of the Apostles. He claims for us all the blessings of the covenant of peace and re-confirms our union with Himself, the love of God towards us and the certainty of our conversion by the glorious gospel of grace.

The Lord Jesus calls upon His Father to Sanctify His people reminding us that sanctification is not man's work but a work of God in our lives for our happiness and His own glory.
