Using an acrostic formula, this psalm was most likely used as a tool to teach about the nature of the one true God of Israel, Yahweh. In Christ, the fullness of God has been revealed to the entire world, offering redemption to any who will trust and believe.

When we are faced with the dark night of the soul, is God near to us? Does he hear our cry and see our suffering? The arrival of God in flesh is the answer to these questions. He will never leave or forsake us.

It's about time. The cry of God's people is answered and the moment we've been waiting for is now here. The kingdom of the world has now become the Kingdom of the Lord and His Messiah, the Anointed One. With their reign comes the reward of His servants and the restoration of the cosmos.

The nations gloat and celebrate the death of Christ's witnesses. However, after a short 3 1/2 days, God breathes life into their bodies, and resurrects them to His dwelling place. No matter what the scoreboard of life displays, in the end, those who are God's will find themselves eternally secure in His presence.

“Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Before the seventh trumpet can sound, there is an break in the action. John hears seven thunders, but is told to seal up their message. However, one message is unmistakably clear - God will accomplish His promise to redeem a people from every tribe, tongue, and nation. The method of fulfillment is bittersweet - the persecution and suffering of the church. But in the end, all suffering works eterna...

With the revealing of the first two of three woes, evil is allowed to do its worst and unleash havoc and destruction among the earth dwellers. An opportunity for repentance remains, but the people choose rejection instead. In the end, humans become what they worship and they get what they want.

The last seal is opened, and the revealed contents of the scroll lead to a great hush in the heavens. The first four of seven trumpets are sounded, exposing the corrupt and unjust nature of Babylon and her king - the satan himself. Because God is full of love and justice, He will respond to the prayers of His saints and redeem them through the great evil that plagues the earth.

And climbing out of the boat, Peter started walking on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the strength of the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand, caught hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” When they got into the boat, the wind ceased. Then those in the boat worshiped him...

John envisions an innumerable group of people from every nation, tribe, and language, where they are seen serving God before His throne. Even though they passed through a great time of distress, God provided for them an even greater rescue. In Christ, there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God. Not even the greatest of tribulations.

As God's justice begins to be carried out on the earth, a question is asked by those who hide from the face of the Lamb - "Who is able to stand?" Those who have identified with the Lamb are sealed, and they stand as the answer to the question. However, they stand not on their own merit, but on the merit of the One who conquered by giving up His own life.

The Lamb begins to open the seals and the four horsemen of the apocalypse ride out to do their worst. The saints under the altar cry out in desperation, "How long?" Their cry is answered through the life, death, and resurrection of the Lamb, who will vindicate the suffering of God's people and bring in the full number of worshipers His glory is due.

The distraught John is comforted with news of a conquering Lion who can bring about God's plan of redemption. Surprisingly, when John turns to look, he instead sees a slaughtered Lamb. This passage informs our understanding of the entire book of Revelation. Jesus conquers by sacrificially giving up His own life.

John shares with us a vision of the throne room of God, where the Almighty rules and reigns over all of creation. He is the Holy & True One, worthy of all honor and glory and praise. The Holy one became flesh and dwelt among men, making a way for sinners to become saints who join the chorus of praise to the One on the throne.
