The first chapter of book five, how wonderful it is to be with the Lord!

Most of us think of the Great Flood as an example of God's Wrath; however, consider that He let eight sinners live.  We all deserve to die because we are Sinners, but instead of giving mankind what he deserved, God remembers Noah...

Paul closes his letter to the Colossians with five important points.

God brought total judgement on his creation, destroying all land creatures except those kept in Noah's Ark.  Listen in as we consider the importance of the Flood, as it is described in Genesis, and how this has never been more relevant than it is today.

Redemption had a cost, the means of our salvation is the death of our Savior.  Just as He rose, so shall those that are united with Him.  Death is not the end.

If death is the penalty of sin, consider that life is the reward from obedience to Christ. 

Despite being in prison, Paul prays for the opportunity to tell others the good news of Jesus.  We should pray often for the opportunity to evangelize, desiring that His numbers would increase to the glory of His name.

Noah warned everyone who passed by to beg the Lord for redemption, but none of them listened.  His judgment will come again and salvation can only come through being united to His Son.

For the sake of the one who was obedient until death, our Savior, be faithful to the Lord in everything you do.

Transitioning to the story of the flood, we are reminded that death is a consequence of sin itself, and calamities are the consequence of wickedness in the world. When God judges the world, will He find sin credited to your account, or His Son, Jesus Christ?

Paul describes what a Christian must put on in the Christian life.  What should your life be marked by if you are a Christian?

Sanctification requires putting some things to death and putting on some things related to life.  Here Paul explains what must be put to death in the Christian life.

The growth of the seed of the man is spelled out.  Though death has entered the world, yet for those who trust in God, there is the hope of eternal life through the Messiah.  Moses highlights this reality even in this genealogy.

The world is divided between the seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent.  Genesis chapter 4 records the beginning of this enmity through the slaying of Abel.

God brings his own accusation against his people showing their sinfulness.  

Paul gives thanks to God for the Colossians' faith, hope, and love, which is a summary of Christian piety.

Christ came as the anointed preacher of good news.

Salvation is God's sending His Son and Spirit.  Without these two sendings there could be no salvation.

Christ showed the full extent of his humility in his incarnation and death, leaving an example for us.

For the Psalmist there is nothing better than worshipping God.

Why do bad things happen to good people? This question has been asked in every age.  The Psalmist gives the answer in this Psalm.

Why has God saved you? So that you can worship him.
