Jase Peeples lives in San Francisco. His book, Before You Can Fly, came out May 8th, 2026. It’s a YA coming of age romance about a gay, comic-book obsessed teen who is struggling with his growing feelings for his best friend.

It's about a teenage daughter of Armenian immigrants from Istanbul Turkey, who struggles with her identity and searches for the true stories of her family's history of surviving genocide.

Caroline Paul lives in San Francisco. Her book Why Fly? came out February 24th, 2026. She reads a passage about an emergency landing she had to make.

Liam O’Brien lives in San Francisco. His book, "Butterflies of the Bay Area, and (Slightly) Beyond," is about the places and the zones where humans and butterflies converge. It came out September 30th, 2025.

The book is partly a love letter and partly a field guide to the creatures, currents, weather that you might encounter or be curious about walking along the sand or paddling a surfboard a distance from the shore.

The book is about Chinese literary exiles in California. There’s a scandal and a roadtrip as they investigate and look for a mysterious woman who was involved in a murder of one of their friends.

Gary Prost's new book is about his journey across the state from the Marin headlands to the wine country, from the gold fields to Death Valley, to learn about the geology of this amazing state.

John Doll lives in San Francisco. His novel, "St. James Park," is a 1933 noir set in San Jose, about a kidnapping of a department store heir. It came out August 19th, 2025.

Beverly Burch lives in Oakland. Her book, "What You Don’t Know," is about two women whose antagonism turns into something tender and electric, then catastrophic. It came out in May of 2025.

James Cagney's new book is a blend of genres and a personal archive.

Emile DeWeaver lives in Oakland. His book, "Ghost in a Criminal Justice Machine," came out in May 2025. It's about his journey through prison and what he learned about criminal justice and white supremacy.

Kate Folk lives in San Francisco. Her book, "Sky Daddy," came out on April 8th, 2025. It's about a woman named Linda who's sexually obsessed with airplanes.

Caroline M. Mar lives in Oakland. Her latest poetry collection, "Water Guest," came out on April 1st, 2025. It's about Lake Tahoe, the Chinese who built the transcontinental railroad, and at least a little bit about her struggle with losing her family's ancestral language.

Susanna Kwan lives in San Francisco. Her book, Awake in the Floating City it came out in May. It takes place in a future version of San Francisco that's flooded by years of rain.

Aimee Phan lives in Berkeley. Her book, The Lost Queen came out May 6th, 2025. It's about two girls in San Jose who discover that they are the reincarnated queens of Vietnam.

Wendy M. Thompson lives in Oakland. Her book of poetry, "Black California Gold" came out March 2025. In it she looks at the Black Bay area and explores the ways their presence and displacement has continued to shape the region.

Danielle Teller lives in Palo Alto. Her book "Forged" came out in May 2025. It's about a Gilded Age con artist who steals money from banks in the name of love.

Lori Ostlund lives in San Francisco. Her story collection "Are You Happy?" came out in May 2025. It's about the specter of violence that hangs over women in the queer community, but with humor.

Bonnie Tsui lives in Berkeley. Her book, "On Muscle: The Stuff That Moves Us and Why It Matters," was published in April 2025. It poses the question, what is power in a body? And blends science, culture, and history to answer that question.

Khan Wong lives in San Francisco. His novel, "Down in the Sea of Angels," was published April 2025. It's about a young woman with the psychic ability to know the history of any object that she touches.

Luiza Flynn-Goodlett lives in Richmond. Her poetry collection, "Mud in Our Mouths" came out in March 2025. It's about road tripping to visit family in Tennessee and simultaneously traveling back through many past selves.

Brittany Newell' book, "Soft Core," is about a stripper named Ruth who is plunged into a nocturnal journey through SF’s underground when her ex-boyfriend disappears.

Kat Crosswell lives in Oakland. Her coming of age novel for middle grades, called, "Pieces of Eight: A Harper Family Mixtape," came out in July 2024.

Ellen Barker's new book, Still Needs Work, is about a woman who loses her tech job and spends the next year scrambling to keep her life together.

Maxine Rose Schur lives in Novato. Her book, Star Brother came out in August of 2024. It's about a lonely teenager who makes a discovery that leads to an adventuring rescue mission.
