Nerds and Nachos: One Chip

This week GC goes over the changes to the bracket system and game changers and the possibility of of bans for Thassa's Oracle and Rhystic Study. Would the bans be good? what are the changes to brackets and the game changer list? Links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos

This week we dive into the controversy of the Spider-Man survey question. What was the point? Is WOTC blaming Influencers for the poor reception of Spider-Man or is it deeper than that? Links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos

Standard is the format that Wizards of the Coast is pushing as hard as they can. After a long time of the format being out of favor it is getting a ton of support, but is that to the detriment of other formats and sets as well? Links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos

This week, I'm going over win conditions. The good, the bad, and the pub stompy. I also realize Scars of Mirrodin Standard might be why I don't play Standard still. Links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos

Recapping my trip to and from Magic Con Atlanta! It was a blast and I can't wait to go to the next one! Spider-Man, Spider-Man does whatever a mediocre set can? Is that right? Is the Spider-Man set bad, or are there hidden gems? It feels off and some cards are underpowered in this small Magic the Gahtering set. I have some thoughts and I get rambly this week. Links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos

This week, it's a patron-suggested episode! I'm going over how to get new players into Magic the Gahtering and how to teach them best. French/Duel Commander, draft, Beginner Box, or Kitchen table are all good options, and each teaches a player how the game works and how to interact with the game pieces. This week, we rehash another older topic: Universes Beyond. Is it as bad as everyone says it is? Is it the death of Magic the Gathering as we know it? Do we all need to jump ship and play another game because Magic is ruined forever? Hear all these answers and more! Don't forget to use code NNATL at my bonfire store for 10% off your order. You'll help me make MC ATL less of a financial burden. Lin...

Building for your meta can look like you are being a jerk and putting silver bullets in each of your commander decks. I think it's planning for your outs and making sure that you evolve with your playgroup. links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos

This week I'm moving, and I'm tired, but I never stop for y'all. The Spider-Man set is on the horizon, and we barely know anything about it. There are very few ambassadors, and more cards from ATLA have been previewed. I'm worried, and it is hard to stay optimistic. Links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos

This week, I'm talking about scalping again and how much I hate it and capitalism! ATLA has a huge problem with scalpers using bots to purchase insane quantities of product to resell at the highest possible value, and it is hurting people who love Magic the Gathering and Avatar The Last Airbender. This week, proxies are back in the Magic consciousness. Should we play with them, and is the issue deeper and rooted in the idea of the secondary market? I think Wizards should go the Konami route with aggressive reprints to drive down prices in the secondary market. Links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos

This week, it's all about reducing our clutter and our deck numbers?! I have too many decks and I am consolidating them, and I think you should too. I get to the point in the episode eventually. links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos

This week, it's all about women and how we make a space safe for them to join and keep them here. I had some awesome guests come on and share their voices and stories. There were so many other women I wanted to have on the show, but I know that you are valid and welcome here. This week, I'm talking about the upcoming rules change allowing you to run a vehicle in the command zone! I'm tired, the energy is weird, and I talk about Cars and Fast and the Furious. I'd apologize, but I'm not sorry. Links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos

No full episode this week. I am tired and back from a cut-short vacation. I'll be back in full swing next week with lots of stories about a crazy AirBnB. Links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos

This week, it's a touchy subject. Scalping is prevalent in all Trading Card Games, not just Magic the Gahtering. I talk about the issue with it and how it is unfortunate that it is around to stay with the current culture around collectible card games. links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos

This week, it's a debate as old as magic itself. What is better, card draw or tutoring? I go over the pros of each and the cons, and tell you that I stand with the tutor crowd. I also discuss Spider-Man and my thoughts on the current Final Fantasy prices. Links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos

This week I talk about general threat assessment and the complicated rock, paper, scissors that is Magic the Gathering. Threat assessment is hard and you will make mistakes along the way as you get better at it, but keep trying and don't be afraid to make mistakes and learn from them. Links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos

This week, we go over threats and what is more important, the threat in your face or the threat on the horizon in a commander game. Magic the Gathering is a difficult game, and threat assessment is a hard thing. When there is a lightning rod in the command zone, you can get a little tunnel visioned on that player while another player at the table runs away with the game, so what is the best balanc...

Should Commander Damage be a thing or do you just need to run more interaction? You can't get knocked out with Commander Damage if you keep countering or killing their commander. Links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos

This week, I go deep into Unions, why they're important, and the union busting tactics of TCG Player. It gets heated but I'm always passionate about other people being harmed. Links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos

This week, I talk about the different types of builders in Commander. Some tweak and tinker with their decks constantly, while others destroy and build something new from the pieces. Which type of Magic: The Gathering deck builder are you? Tinkerer or Destroyer? links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos

This week I go into a tunnel and talk all about getting tunnel vision on one combo in your deck rather than using every card at your disposal. I'm also sick, so excuse my voice. links: https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos

This week, I am joined by the wonderful, award-winning cosplayer Van Quigg Cosplay! We talk about favorite decks, signature decks, cosplay, and pets. We have a great time and an even better conversation. links: https://linktr.ee/Vanquiggcosplay https://linktr.ee/nerdsandnachos
