(Mt 21:1-11) The Triumphal Entry. What is the significance of Palm Sunday? Background (Deut 6-8; Dan 9:25). While the Messiah’s return was prophesied, Israel rejected Him (Lk 19:41-44). (1 Cor 2:1-5) Paul’s simple presentation of the gospel. Study of verses 1-5. We need not use persuasive or impressive words, but simply tell others about Christ. 

Job 42:11. The actions of Satan vs. the sovereignty of God (Job 1, 2). God allowed Job to suffer, but not without His supervision. His actions were designed to grow Job's spiritual life (Is 5:6-9). Principles about perseverance/endurance (Heb 12:1-2; Rom 5:3-8).

(Ps 119:97, 103-104: The Word of God leads us in the right direction. Socialism and the Bible continued. Why you should reject socialism. What does the Bible say? (Acts 5:1-9; Gen 41:53-57). The dangers of socialism.

Job 42:10-11. God restores Job's prosperity and family. Confession of sins restores our relationship with God. Successfully passing spiritual tests brings God's blessings to the believer (Jas 1:12). Lessons of Job's restoration and forgiveness (Eph 4:32; Mk 11:25).

(Ps 138:1-3) Have confidence in God’s faithfulness. Conference topic: “Challenges to Biblical Faith.” Brief review of presentations which focused on topics such as Marxism, syncretism, socialism, anti-Zionism, and critical race theory. (2 Cor 5:21) Communion: The imputed righteousness of Christ. Preview of Pastor Inghram’s presentation to Chafer Theological Seminary Conference: Socialism and the Bible. Background: concept of reinventing capitalism, cultural Marxism/statism. Biblical viewpoint on socialism (Gen 2:15; Ex 20:17; Mt 26:6-11).

Reading of WallBuilders article on America's National Anthem. Job 42:8-9. God requires burnt offerings from Eliphaz, Bildad and Zophar, with Job serving as their mediator. Job's intercession teaches us the importance of prayer in the lives of others (Jas 5:16).

(Ps 40:1-3) Rely completely on Lord. (1 Cor 1:26-31) Human achievement rejected; glory in God only. Study of verses 26-31. The Jews wanted signs. The Gentiles valued wisdom. Human pride and achievement obscures the wisdom of God's gospel message (Mt 19:24). Humility, and a focus on Bible doctrine, brings true wisdom and glorifies God (Jer 19:24).

Remembering Jeanette Hubbard. Principles about/celebration of death. Birth, daily life, and death are all part of God's plan and are designed to bring glory to God (Phil 1:19-23). As believers, we live our lives as if we are advancing into eternity.

Rush Limbaugh testimony. (1 Cor 1:18-25) Christ, the power and wisdom of God. Study of verses 18-25. There are many impressive speakers, but the power and wisdom of God comes from His Word (the message of Christ), not the words of men. Foolishness comes from wisdom of the world.

Job 42:7. Special study: My servant Job. Other examples (Gen 26:24; Num 12:7, 14:24; 2 Sam 7:8), including the Messiah (Is 52:13) and those deemed servants of the Lord (Jos 24:29). While these men were not perfect, they maintained intimate relationships with God.

(Ps 30:1-12) God lifts up the discouraged. (1 Cor 1:10-17) Divisions in the Church continued. It's important that divisions outside the Church are not allowed to cause divisions inside the Church. Study of verses 14-17. Study of baptism as one cause of division and its true meaning.

Job 42:7. The wrath of God concluded. How should we view the wrath of God? God's "wrath" is a figure of speech. Unlike us, God is perfectly content and not subject to wrath. Eliphaz is encountering the perfect justice of God. Understanding the character of God (Ps 103:12).

Communion: Christ's fulfillment of Law qualified Him to go to cross (Gal 4:4). (1 Cor 1:10-13) Divisions in the Church. Study of verses 10-12. Like the Corinthians, we are at risk of succumbing to disharmony in the Church. We should, instead, be unified in the Lord (Eph 4:14-16). Job 42:7. The wrath of God continued. Passibility vs. impassibility, anthropopathism and anthropomorphism revisited. God, omniscient and filled with unconditional love based on His character, is not changed by human thought or action (Jas 1:17).

(Eph 4:11-16) God gives spiritual gifts to help us grow spiritually and edify the Body of Christ. (1 Cor 1:4-7) It is not necessary to identify your spiritual gift in order to use it. We simply need a desire to serve. God will accomplish His plan through us. Summary of principles.

Job 42:7. Special study: The wrath of God. The essence of God and anthropopathism (v. 7; 1 Sam 15:10, 29) reviewed. Controversy: passibility or impassibility of God. God is immutable; He does not change. Emotional language helps us understand Him in human terms.

(Ps 43:1-5) Wait on God in times of trouble. (1 Cor 1:4-9) Study of spiritual gifts continued. Involvement of the Trinity (1 Cor 12:3-11), distribution, categories (temporary vs. permanent), and purpose. Spiritual gifts don’t exist to serve you, but to serve God and the Body of Christ.

Job 42:7. Special study: God speaks to Eliphaz (v. 7). How did God speak to humans prior to the text of Scripture (Gen 3:8; Job 38:1)? How does He speak to us today? Discussion of visions, dreams, and heavenly experiences. Today, God speaks to us through His Word, the Bible. This is our direct revelation.

(1 Cor 1:4-9) Special study: spiritual gifts. Definition (Rm 12:6-8), doctrine (Eph 4:7-8). We may not know our spiritual gift, but as we focus on our service to the Lord, He will direct us.

Job 42:1-6. Job realizes that he must return to humility. Study of principles of humility: examples (Num 12:3; Phil 2:5-8; 2 Cor 12:10), definitions, applications. When we submit to God, He exalts us (Jas 4:10). Rely on Him, not self, in every circumstance.

Ps 20:1-9: Starting the new year trusting the Lord. Update on Pastor Inghram’s health. Study of verses 4-9. We are to express gratitude to God for all things, including our spiritual gifts (v. 4-5). The Corinthians were confused about their spiritual gifts. The basis for our gifts is faith, which Christ strengthens to the end (v. 6-9).

Communion: Animal sacrifices of the past vs the ultimate sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Cor 1:1-3) Paul greets the Corinthians in the introduction to his letter. Brief review of the Apostle Paul. Study of verses 1-3. As we begin this new year, we should begin with an understanding that God provides for us.

Ps 33:1-22: Praising the Lord joyfully in all times. Job 41:31 explained. Job 42:1-6. Job repents in his second reply to God. The creature loves to question the Creator, but we must continue to place our confidence in our Creator.

Mt 1:18-25. Chronology of Christmas events continued (Mt 2; Lk 2). Review of Mary and Joseph's betrothal time period. Reading from passage of "Yeshua," by Arnold Fruchtenbaum. This chronology demonstrates God's plan for Jesus. God provides remarkably not only for His Son, but for us today. Study of verses 22-25 in Mt 1. Joseph has a problem. God solves his problem.
