Father's Day Special

Deut 4:9-24. The purpose of the experience at Horeb (v. 9-14). It is easy to forget what God has done for us or to teach our children, but this is our spiritual duty. Prohibition against idolatry (v. 15-24; Rom 1:18-23). It is God who we must worship and serve. Theory on why Moses and Aaron didn't enter promised land (Deut 4:21; Num 20:7-12).

Remembering Flag Day/Week. Reading of President Biden’s Flag Day address. (1 Cor 3:9-15) Study of Judgment Seat of Christ concluded (1 Pet 5:2-4). While the Judgment Seat may be a time of shame (1 Jn 2:28), it will ultimately be a time of joy (Mt 25:23).

Deut 4:1-9. An exhortation to review the law and resist idolatry. By being obedient, you will prosper. Like Israel, we are to be a testament to other nations, and parents are to teach their children the Word of God.

Remembering Armed Forces Day, Peace Officers Memorial Day, Israel’s statehood, and Pentecost. (Ps 91:1-16) Safety of abiding in the Lord. (1 Cor 3:5-12) We are God’s fellow workers. Study of verses 9-12. Our works will be evaluated by God in the future (rewards/loss of rewards).

(Ps 105:1-6) Adulation of God. Mother’s Day: A day to be celebrated (Prov 31:10-31). (1 Cor 3:1-8) God provides the increase. Study of verses 5-8. Like Paul and Apollos, God will assist us as we share His message (2 Cor 5:20). We work with others but receive our own rewards.

Communion: The remarkable love of God seeks to save us from His wrath (Eph 2:1-7). (1 Cor 3:1-4) God’s revelation to mankind. Study of verses 1-4. The Corinthians had made little spiritual progress due to their sinful lives (1:10). We must not let divisions/sin hinder us.

Deut 1:19-46. Israel refuses to enter land (v. 19-33); penalty for their rebellion (v. 34-46). Background (Num 13:17-14:4). How often do we assume the worst when adversity appears? Our God is a loving God. We must call upon Him and trust Him with the solution.

(Ps 90:1-17) God’s everlasting love. (1 Cor 2:9-16) Study of verses 14-16. Believers need a human spirit to understand spiritual information taught by the Holy Spirit (Jn 14:15-17, 26; Is 40:13). The unbeliever does not have a human spirit. The Holy Spirit acts as a human spirit for the unbeliever, so the unbeliever can at least understand the gospel message.

Deut 1:5-33. A review of Israel's history: the promised land (v. 6-8), the tribal leaders' appointment (v. 9-19), and Israel's refusal to enter the land (v. 19-33). Like Israel, God is providing for us every day. We must have the strength and faith to follow Him (Josh 1:9).

(Ps 86: 1-13) How God provides for us. (1 Cor 2:10-16) Study of verses 10-13. Paul continues to contrast spiritual wisdom with worldly wisdom. As we understand human things through our human spirit, conversely we can only learn spiritual things through the Holy Spirit (v. 10-13; 1 Thes 5:23).

Introduction to the Book of Deuteronomy. Context and background on Israelites and Moses (Deut 31). The overall application/lesson: hear, learn and obey (Deut 31:12). Name, author, date, historical background, recipients, place of writing, purpose and outline.

(Titus 2:11-15) Communion: The meaning of the spiritual life and the redemption we have in Christ. Reading from Roger Patterson’s article, “Are the Symbols and Customs of Easter of Pagan Origin?” The meaning or importance of the resurrection (Lk 9:22; 1 Cor 15:12-17; Rom 8:34).

Update on Pastor Inghram's health. Job 42:12-17. Job's blessings examined. Remarks on prosperity gospel. God blesses or holds back blessings based on His purpose for our lives. We must keep our eyes focused on Him. Principles from the Book of Job.  End of series.

(Mt 21:1-11) The Triumphal Entry. What is the significance of Palm Sunday? Background (Deut 6-8; Dan 9:25). While the Messiah’s return was prophesied, Israel rejected Him (Lk 19:41-44). (1 Cor 2:1-5) Paul’s simple presentation of the gospel. Study of verses 1-5. We need not use persuasive or impressive words, but simply tell others about Christ.
