(2 Sam 22:1-4) God is our Rock. (1 Cor 10:1-5) While many of the Old Testament saints were blessed, they often failed. Still, they are our examples. Pillar of cloud and fire (Ex 13:21-22). Holy Spirit as our advocate (Rom 8:26-27). Spiritual food (Ps 78:21-25) and water (Ex 17:5-6). God provided for the Israelites and He provides for us today. 

Communion: Review of the elements. (Acts 2:1-4, Lev 23:15) Pentecost: The Feast of Weeks (7 weeks). (1 Cor 9:24-27) Running the race and receiving the reward. Success in our spiritual lives requires self-discipline. 

(Ps 102:1-2) Turning to God in times of sorrow. Memorial Day remembrance. Reading of "In Flanders Field" by John McCrae. (1 Cor 9:19-23) As believers, we are free, yet a servant to others, in order to proclaim the good news. 

Remembering Armed Forces Day. (Ps 106:1-5) Our mighty God is in the details. Update on Pastor Inghram’s health. (1 Cor 9:15-18) Serving willingly vs. serving under compulsion. Paul’s ministry brought him joy. God gives us opportunities to serve, as well.

(Ps 103:1-22) Praise for the Lord's mercies. (1 Cor 9:8-14) The authority and rights (or privileges) of the apostle continued. Review of verses 8-11. Study of verses 12-14. God provides for us so we can support those in ministry. 

Remembering Mother’s Day (2 Tim 1:5). Remarks by Abraham Lincoln. (1 Cor 9:8-11) The authority and rights of the apostle. Like the ox of the Old Testament, those in ministry should expect a share of the harvest for their work (Deut 25:4). 

(1 Jn 4:7-11) Communion: Knowing God through love. (1 Cor 9:1-7) Paul reaffirms his authority as an apostle and begins his defense to those who judge him. Those who serve in ministry should be supported by those benefitting from the ministry. 

(Ps 92:1-4) God provides for us every day. (1 Cor 8:1-13) Study of verses 7-13. Paul stresses the importance of brotherly love. We must not let our freewill as Christians lead us to be a stumbling block to weaker believers.

(Mt 28:1-9) The meaning or importance of the Resurrection. Why was it important for the Lord Jesus Christ to die (Heb 9:22; Jn 1:29; Rom 4:25)? Without an empty tomb, there is no Christianity. We serve a living Savior.

(Mt 21:1-11) Triumphal entry. (1 Cor 8:1-6) Knowledge makes conceit, but love edifies. Love is the base for how we apply knowledge. True knowledge leads to God and a love for Him (1 Jn 4:20).

(1 Jn 4:7-11) Communion: Love one another as God loves us. Summary of 1 Corinthians chapters 1-8. (1 Cor 8:1-6) Study of verse 1. Paul addresses the consumption of pagan meat. While knowledge makes us feel important, it is love that strengthens the church.

(Psa 63:1-2) The life and impact of Baby Brady (2 Cor 5:1-8; Heb 4:14-16).  Be comforted by God. (Psa 139:13-18)

(Ps 61:1-8) Finding comfort as members of the Lord’s family. (Jn 1:6-28) End of prologue. John the Baptist, location of his ministry (Is 40:3), meaning of baptism. Baptism signifies repentance and commitment to God. 

(Ps 145:1-3, 17-21) Praising God for His provisions. (Jn 1:1-5) Review of prologue. Light in the Bible (8:12; Gen 1:3-4; 1 Jn 1:6-7). The seven I AMs (Jn 6-15). Like Jesus, we are to be a light to others. 

Communion: The Servant Leader (Mk 10:45). (John 1:1-5) Review of outline. Seven signs identified in John. Who is the Logos? 

Ps 96:1-6: Praising God for His blessings towards us. Overview of John. What is the Gospel? Purpose (Jn 20:30-31), authorship (21:20), date, theme, outline. 

(Ps 40:1-5) God's wonderful care for us. Israel and the Church; a new paradigm. Five reasons the Church should care about Israel. In Israel, we can see the faithfulness of God. He is restoring Israel, as promised.

(Ps 121:1-8) Our help comes from the Lord. (Jn 9:8-44) Man born blind continued. Background on Pool of Siloam, Feast of Tabernacles. God gives sight to us by revealing the truth to us. 

Review of seven feasts (Lev 23). The feasts taught Israel about the Messiah and His work. They serve as an encouragement to us today. 

(Hebrews 9:11-15) Communion: Jesus as our Redeemer. (John 9:1-7) Man born blind. Why did God heal the blind man in this way? God as light (Gen 1:3; Rom 1:20). John's Messianic signs (Is 35:5-7). We can faith today based on evidence.

Deut 20:1-20. Regulations of Holy War (v. 1-20): command not to fear a superior enemy (v. 1-4), those exempt from military service (v. 5-9), Israel's foreign policy (v. 10-18), and prohibition from destroying fruit trees (v. 19-20). Whatever our disaster or hardship, God is with us, He fights for us, and He delivers us.

Preview of Pastor Mark Jenkins’ Holocaust remembrance presentation next Sunday. (Ps 13:1-6) Trusting in the Lord during difficulties. (1 Cor 7:36-40) Paul’s comparison of married and single life. Godly marriage is blessed by God, but those who are not compelled to marry, do well to remain single and devote their lives to God.

Deut 19:1-21. The cities and refuge of criminal law (19:1-21): three cities of refuge for manslaughters (v. 1-13), displacing a boundary marker (v. 14), and the law of witnesses (v. 15-21) and retribution (v. 21; Ex 21:23). God's justice helps us to honor Him.

Remembering Martin Luther King. (Psalm 9:1-10) The Lord will not forsake those who seek Him. (1 Cor 7:32-35) Paul wants to alleviate concerns about problems of the world. Whether single or married, we are to be devoted to God.
