(Ps 1:1-6) The way of the righteous. Review of meaning of faith without works (Jas 2:14). Controlling the tongue (Jas 3:1-12) and applying wisdom to produce good works (v. 13-18).

(Ps 19:7-14) Power of God’s Word. If someone says he has faith but does not have works, can faith save him (Jas 1:21, 26, 2:14)? Study of this widely misunderstood concept in the Bible. Taming the tongue (3:1-6).

Introduction. Moses and the Law of Prophets. What it means to “cultivate (work) it and keep it” (Gen 2:7-10, 15-17). Study of original, Hebrew Scripture.

(Ps 138:1-8) God magnifies His Word above His name. What is, therefore, your duty to the Word of God? How to be a doer of the Word (Jas 1:18-25; Jn 1:14).

Communion: Remembering the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Cor 11:23-26). Overcoming our flesh to produce spiritual fruit (Jas 1: 12, 18-24, 27; Jn 3:9; Rom 7:20). Stability of the soul comes from applying Bible doctrine (Mt 7:24-27).

(Rev 3:7-13) To the church in Philadelphia. History of the city. Context using book of Isaiah. Eight promises. God uses this faithful church to uplift the other six. God rewards faithfulness over success.

(Gen 19:1-16; 2 Pet 2:7-8) Looking at the Characteristics of a Righteous Father. Doctrine of Righteousness.

(Ps 73:1-28) Though your heart may fail, God is the strength of your hearts. Whomever endures temptation loves God (Jas 1:5, 12, 18-19). Doctrine of crowns.

Communion. James 1:1-5.

(Ps 32:1-5; 1 Jn 1:9) Confession of sins. Remembering Memorial Day, in light of the ultimate sacrifice, the Lord Jesus Christ (Jn 15:13). Agape (1 Jn 3:16) vs phileo (Jn 16:27) love.

(Ps 119:25-27; Heb 5:8) Committing ourselves to God’s Word. Review: Child of God (1 Jn 1:12) vs. friend of God (15:14; Heb 11:6). Example: Abraham (Jas 2:23). Versions of sanctification (1 Cor 1:2; Jn 17:17-19).

(Luke 10:38-42) Mother’s Day tribute. Pray for wisdom to count it all joy and God will answer you, if you ask in faith (Jas 2-6; 1 Pet 1:6).

(Ps 34:1-22) Deliverance for those who trust God. Communion: An exercise in faith (1 Cor 11:23-26). How to count it all joy (Jas1:2-4). Trials produce spiritual maturity, if we respond rather than react.  

(Ps 107:1-34) Crying out to God for help. Relationship vs. fellowship with God. Grieving the Holy Spirit (Eph 4:30). Joy is a mental attitude (Jas 1:2; 2 Cor 5:7). God uses difficulties in our lives to help us grow spiritually (Jas 1:3; Rom 8:28).
