Narmada Parikrama is a sacred pilgrimage that involves circumambulating the entire course of the Narmada River , one of India’s holiest rivers. Spanning nearly 3,500 kilometers , this spiritual journey traditionally begins at Amarkantak , the river’s origin, and follows its banks through Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat , before returning to the starting point. Pilgrims undertake this path—often barefoot—as an act of devotion, self-discovery, and surrender. The route winds through forests, ghats, temples, and ancient towns, offering a deeply immersive experience into nature, culture, and faith. It’s believed that walking the Parikrama with sincerity can lead to spiritual purification and liberation (moksha)
