Mr. Suave's Mod Mod World

I started this modcast in part because it seemed to me that a lot of great mod bands from the original Southern California scene of the 80s never got their due. My first few shows were dedicated to sharing the music of some those bands and then it just sort of grew from there.  Remember back in 2006 the internet was still in its infancy really. Napster had opened up digital music in the 90s, but i...

It's the end of the season, the pennant race is on, the fall classic is looming. So, of course I had to call up some ringers to talk baseball and music. All baseball related songs of course, and a few of baseball's greatest play calls as well.  As always find a complete track list, bonus...

You know the artists but do you remember these tracks? I've got deep cuts from the back catalogs of some of our favorite bands on this week's show. These are the songs that often get forgotten, or overshadowed by the bigger hits.  We all know their hits, everyone knows their popular albums, and the true fans will know a lot of the back catalog for all the bands here, I'm sure.  But I'm guessing ev...

We're just a little past the half way mark for this year and already it's shaping up to be a great one as far as new music goes.  A lot of music rumbles through my ears, and lately these are the artists who are in heavy rotation here at Suave headquarters.  There are definitely some solid contenders for my annual best of list at the end of the year.  These are acts I've already hyped this year, bu...

Ages ago I discovered this great blog (yes blog!) called Ice Cream Man Power Pop & More. It was highlighting all the exact types of music that I loved. Eventually that morphed into the fantastic Ice Cream Man Power Pop & More Podcast and Ice Cream Man Power Pop & More Records, run by the even more fantastic prince of power pop promotion, Wayne Lundqvist Ford. I'd be shocked --shocked I...

This week I was fortunate to connect with the lead singer of Vancouver, BC's Star Collector ( Bandcamp , Facebook ). It was a fun conversation about the band, his inspirations and what he's listening to currently. Star Collector's latest album, their first in about 15 years, is Game Day and it is a rip roaring power pop ride from start to finish. Highly recommended, as is anything from their four...

Here it comes. Another shotgun scatter of new tunes. Breaking New Sound Too. There is so much cool new music out there that one Modcast alone can't hip you to all the mod friendly sounds that abound. Last week's Modcast #480: Breaking New Sound was a huge success (fastest one ever to 3000 streams), and there were so many more songs and bands I wanted to highlight, I did something rare and threw to...
