Mr. Suave's Mod Mod World

Summertime and the livin' is easy. I've been on my now annual summer sabbatical where I take a few weeks off from my job as modcaster general and try to get out and some fun in the sun.  But, I had to get back to this because so much cool new music has been coming out of late and I really want to be sharing it with you all.  As always find a complete track list, a bonus third set of songs, and all...

Now coming to you from the middle of summer, tunes that sound like pleasure. This one has been a while coming and while most all the songs are new, they aren't as fresh as I had hoped.  Still its a fun collection of power pop, garage rock, sixtiesish stuff, and even an instrumental! Tune in and your ears will thank you. As always find a complete track list, a bonus third set of songs, and all the...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or so the saying goes. Of course, they also say one man's trash is another man's treasure. In the continuing tradition of terrible ideas for a modcast this week Mary Queen of Cosmos joins me on an audio podcast for a visual topic: album covers. She delivers her list of albums with striking covers and we play some of the songs to give you the flavor of it all a...

This week I'm joined by veteran rockers Dean and Brent Seavers of The Decibels , one of the best mod friendly, power pop acts of the past thirty years (yes we're all that old, get used to it). With five albums already under their belt they are back this year with a brand new release, When Red Lights Flash . And it rocks. It's got an accessibility to it that is familiar, but with enough newness to...

I've got your rock and soul, your soul and roll, and it's all ready and steady to go. Let's get out on the rink and dig the music. 2025 Update. This week's modcast has some good stuff. There's a good dose of power pop as usual. But, there's a nice little trio of 80s synthesizer infused, soul influenced modpop as well. I think you'll find a striking similarity between Mood Six and The Truth , both sounding like precursors to later groups such as Swing Out Sister or the Orange Peels .  The M.B.s (Modern Blues Band) -- Another Day Green Circ...

Here it is, my annual taster's choice of 2022's most mod friendly sounds.  From soul to ska to garage and power pop, 2022 delivered some cool music. This show could easily have been three hours long, but rather than just listing everything I stubbed my ear on over the year I really try to hard to narrow it down to the what in my opinion is the very best of the year. Not an easy task, and I'm not s...

[Flashback to Modcast #525, original broadcast November 2022] Northern soul has infused, and been transfused into all manner of music.
