Moving Through Georgia

One of the loudest voices for preserving the Union, then secession.  Robert Toombs was a principal figure in Georgia before the Civil War.  

Two stories about crime and trains.  Bill Miner was a folk hero who robbed trains, a Canadian version of Billy the Kid who ended his career in Northeast Georgia.  The Great Locomotive Chase is a story of a stolen train and a dramatic chase though Georgia.

Hart County is the only Georgia county named after a woman.  The stories of Nancy Hart's exploits during the Revolutionary War are legendary.  In this episode Nancy foils spies, does a little spying herself, and defends her home against the British.

The home front is a critical part of any war story.  There has to be something worth fighting for, and people who will provide and protect.  Soldiers have to be fed and supplied, homes need to be defended.  Sometimes the most crucial contributions to the war effort are made far behind the lines.
