In the year 1887 Jefferson Davis, former president of the Confederacy... didn't come to Athens.  Actually, there were several years that he didn't come to Athens, but this one was special.  We'll discuss why Davis declined the invitation, and how he and several other figures fared as they transitioned from being Confederate leaders back to Union citizens.
