Jimmy Davis - In the second half of Psalm 34, King David's sermon encourages us to practice the goodness of God as we depend on the Savior who proves and provides the goodness of God for us.

Jimmy Davis - In this follow up sermon from Psalm 2, we learn that Jesus is the Anointed Ruler: He is a good king and a just judge. And while He has the right to rule and the right to judge us all, He was judged for our rebellion! Our appropriate response to the amazing grace of this good king is complete submission to Him. Jimmy Davis - When we put Psalms 1 and 2 together, we see that the BLESSED LIFE is enjoyed by those who give the STORY of JESUS their ATTENTION and AFFECTIONS (Psalm 1), because they have given JESUS their ALLEGIANCE (Psalm 2).

Chris Powell - In the fifth chapter of his letter to the church in Ephesus, Paul teaches that we are made alive in Christ. Because we are alive in Christ we are a people called to be filled with the Spirit — not to fill ourselves with things that cause us to waste our lives and actually leave us empty.

Jimmy Davis - As we come to the end of our journey in this series on prayer, we discover that one of Paul's prayer priorities is "gospel growth." In many of his letters, Paul pleads with and encourages the church to pray for God to GROW the gospel, to pray for those who SOW the gospel to do so in clear, bold, and protected ways, and to pray that many would KNOW the gospel.

When God reminds us that He alone is our "exceeding joy," then we can remind ourselves to "hope in God."

Nathan Carico - What does it look like to live now in light of the hope of the resurrection? Paul called the Thessalonian church to be holy (set apart), because they had already been set apart by the most extraordinary being in the universe who defeated death.

Jimmy Davis - The resurrection of Jesus meets our broken stories and gives us a new story to live. It is a story of life, hope, and transformation. This new story calls us to repent of our unbelief, to believe Jesus is the risen savior, and to follow Him.

Jimmy Davis - First century people had certain expectations of Jesus, but through his life and death he shook up the place, power, and prestige of both the poor and the powerful. He does the same today. What do you do when your Palm Sunday prayers and expectations are confronted by the cross of Good Friday?

Jimmy Davis - We discovered this week that Habakkuk 3 brings us to the ultimate question: Who is God when bad things happen, and what are we to do with Him? As we seek the answers to these questions we find that we should tremble because our God is majestic, mighty, merciful, and mysterious. In addition, we should trust because He is good.

Jimmy Davis - What happens when we go to our God with our real prayers? What happens when we genuinely complain about all the sin and injustice around us? What happens when we see ourselves and our sinfulness towards God, other people, and God's creation?

Jimmy Davis - What does it looks like to pray real life prayers from a heart of faith? We can go to our loving Father praying with expectation and hope. We have this hope because we remember God has a plan and He is in His place. While these two things may sound like platitudes, they are truths that we need to get down into our hearts as we cry out to God in the midst of difficult circumstances.
